Not sure if this came through elsewhere, but Celtics officially sent $450K to the Thunder in the Nader deal.

Actually kind of bummed they are going to waive Purvis. I'm a UCONN graduate and I actually met him a couple of times since we had a mutual friend and I also watched him play a ton. He's a really nice guy and he went through his fair share of ups and downs at UCONN but when he was on he could really pile up the baskets.

Never thought of him as an NBA player but he played phenomenal in the G-League for Orlando and when they called him up to the NBA he had a couple of really good games for them. I understand that it is a move to get under the salary cap but when he's hot he can score lots of buckets so I'm bummed we couldn't give him a shot to be a spark off the bench especially since we could probably offer him next to nothing and he'd take it but wherever he ends up I hope he gets the chance to play.

Would love to see him land with Charlotte since he is from North Carolina and he could play with fellow UCONN players Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb.

I guess it would technically be possible for the Celtics to give him a shot at earning a 2-way spot or a place in Maine in training camp, but I imagine they’ll work with him to give him a chance to find a better landing spot this summer, since there’s no room here.
Or, he might clear waivers, no?

Not a bad gig making $1.38 million to suck at basketball for a year.

I find it funny that a second round pick can cost them less than an undrafted rookie FA or a roster slot charge.

Weird rule.

For the most part the rule is put in to protect veteran free agents, so that teams in tax territory don’t load up on rookies to lower their tax bill.  At the same time, you don’t want to punish teams for signing their own draft picks as an alternative free agency, so thus this weird little rule.

They're still over the luxury tax so he's actually going to cost them a chunk of change.

I guess he has more value than we thought? If he could just hit 3's at a decent clip he should be OK.

Wish him the best.

I am not sure of the exact amount but I am positive we can dump Yabusele to someone any time before the deadline for nothing and get under it.

I am positive this is only true if Smart does not meet his body-fat percentage incentives.

Had no idea he had those incentives. No wonder he has looked thinner in vids I have seen.

Quick note on Abdel Nader of Oklahoma City - his guarantee date was pushed back to 9/1/18 so the Thunder have to decide on his deal soon. Currently $450,000 of $1,378,242 guaranteed @BBallInsiders

Any news about 9/1? Was he cut or did his salary become fully guaranteed?

i just checked a number of sites and they all list him as a member of the thunder. maybe they kept him.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
