I think there's a big reason he signed a 4 year contract instead of his usual. He trusts the ownership and GM unlike Gilbert.
I think its because he already lives in LA, wants to stay there anyway, and is getting old. Years 3 and 4 of that deal are going to be tough for LA.
Yeah, LeBron signed with the Lakers because they're in LA, and they're the Lakers. Just about anyone could have been running that team and LeBron still would have signed there. This had nothing to do with Magic.
I wouldn't be so sure, though, that this will be a tough contract for LA in years 3 and 4 of LeBron's deal. He'll be 36 and 37, respectively, but there's still a very good chance he's playing at a high level at those ages. Most likely not 'best player on earth' levels, but probably still fringe all-star levels. I'd look to guys like Kareem, Karl Malone, Duncan, ect. for what to expect from LeBron as he ages. I also expect LeBron to transition to full time PF soon.
