I'm almost shocked that Danny was going to use the mid level on Cousins. The guy won't be ready to play until mid season, and he might not be 100% this season from that injury.

My guess is this is a war between GS and Boston. Which now are supposed to be the top 2 teams. If that's the case, I would not be shocked if Ainge went after Howard, as others here have suggested. Howard had a surprisingly good year in Charlotte. Very durable. Lots of the usual stats for a dominating center. But he doesn't shoot the 3--whatever that means.

Baynes is a nice player for toughness, but he doesn't match up well against the real bigs. He plays lateral D, not vertical D. Williams is a vertical guy, but it looks like he may have trouble showing up for games, at the rate he is going. Plus he lacks the experience to be a contributor right now. I have to see some hesitation in Danny growing about that.

So maybe he makes a pitch for Howard.

Who are the “real bigs?”

He was great against Embiid, about as tough a cover man to man as there is.

I’d trust him against Dwight and Cousins and Gasol and whoever else.

He shoots the three now, he’s got a mid range, he’s not bad at the line.

Baynes is as a good center for what we need as there is.

When we have to use Al at C against smaller lineups, he’s a great cheerleader who doesn’t pout.

I want notbing to do with Howard amd will be very disappointed if Danny signs him.  Even in Celtic green I do not think that I could pull myself to cheer for him.

I think Howard could very well be prepared at this stage in his career to defer to a team to try and get a championship. He has always been worried about himself (Hollywood, etc.).

Now in his 15th season, perhaps he has matured enough to serve in a role on a deeply stacked team?

Lakers signed 4 players via free agency and nobody bats an eye.

Warriors signed 1 player via free agency and everybody loses their minds.

The Warriors have taken over the Internet.

Wow that's a gut-punch. Glad we found out after the deal was done, otherwise it'd be devastating.

Still think Danny shows interest in Dwight Howard now. Maybe on vet. min.

Devastating ?

I would have been devastated if we had signed this whack-job. No Thank You.

Maybe Danny takes risk with Kawhi after all. Lakers acting like they can wait it out. Cousins to Warriors, if healthy, changes the stakes for us.

The teams with the 2 strongest rosters in the league were the only ones who would offer him a deal, and it was relative table scraps at that.

He may get back to 100% this year and give them some quality minutes, but it's obvious most teams didn't think he would be able to do that.

I would also say that after Cousins got hurt, NO got markedly better. That probably wasn't lost on the rest of the league, either.

Not saying this report is true and the others false. It's just hard to know what exactly happened.

Nobody batted an eye over LeBron choosing the Lakers??!?!

The fact that Cousins is going there for the MLE is surprising. Nothing about the Lakers summer has been surprising (besides Rondoooooo.... still.... whyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?!).

This is kind of like that smoking hot girl that is too bat crazy to consider no matter how hot she is. Better to just walk away. Otherwise she'll end up cooking a rabbit on your stove!
