Hopefully people read this first before voting, because it is not as stupid as it might seem initially.

I think Danny is playing a role of disruptor in the ongoing Kawhi/Lebron saga.   As ironic as it might seem to help the Lakers, I think Danny's end game is to keep this pair out of Philly no matter what.

Here is where Lonzo fits in.  The Lakers can currently offer Kuzma and Ingram to the Spurs.  The Spurs want another top asset, but reportedly have zero interest in the Ball circus.  Do you help LAL by giving them something else of high value to offer the spurs in exchange for Ball?

Lonzo has his flaws but is probably still a top prospect ... it is just the circus tat goes along with him that hurts his value.  We could then move Rozier to get another asset back and let Lonzo learn under Brad and Kyrie.

I am not a big Lonzo fan myself -- but if he can tighten his defense ....

JUst trying to think strategically.

Trade Jaylen for Lonzo? Do a better job with your poll choices next time.

Blasphemy.

I tend to agree, but it would have to be something of value to entice the spurs.   It might be interesting to know what people value more now between Jaylen and the Sac Pick.

Maybe if we’re giving up Yabu and Nader.

I’d rather trade for Kawhi.

i personally am not a big Kawhi Fan given the way he quit on his team.  That said he is a hell of a player.

What would you realistically give  up for him? ... remembering the need to match salaries.

Ball’s defense was pretty good.  It’s making shots that he has to improve on.

I don’t understand how this would accomplish anything. If we’re going to give up premium assets, just take Kawhi.

So we would be getting worse (Brown trade), or trading a potentially better asset (Sacramento pick), simply to play the role of spoiler. It makes no sense.

LOL.  Not yet.

But let's compare rookie stats to examine Ball's potential.  Because the OP is thinking like a GM, despite the fact that Ball is a player the Lakers want to keep. And for good reason.

Well played sir.

I love polls but there is no choice that I’d be comfortable choosing here.

Not under NO circumstances.  He’s a player, and he’ll have a long career.

He looked like a high school kid but he played surprisingly good defense, and even out-rebounded Terry Rozier, which is impressive.

He’ll stay in LA, I’d bet.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

The Lakers can have Morris and Nader, and maybe even Yabu.

Think they'll bite?

Ball can still be very good.  He’s arguably a better prospect that brown.  Balls dad is crazy.  These are not the issues.

The issue is that I don’t want anymore young players.  We’ll eventually need to consolidate assets, not keep getting younger.
