Why open the team up to conjecture and the young guys feeling they are not of some long term plan.It seems like Ainge is playing liars poker forcing the Lakers to an overpay.

Brad and Pop have a good relationship, i would assume they have a good read on injury status.
Leonard in essence sat out a season and has made it known where he wants to play.
We picked up free agents both swayed by organization history and coaching.

As a fan. even though Kyrie is in last year, his preparation  is focused and he fully grasps the history he joined and the years of planning to get to this point- but that niggle of doubt makes me at the moment nervous.
Brad coming out with he is not going to pitch the Celtics to Kyrie and coming out with" it makes sense for him to not sign long term financially" and he has played years for the right to make his decision when the  time comes.
There is a saying "if you love it let it go,if it doesn't come back hunt it down and kill it"

The players are like indentured servants a phrase applied to the" Irish slaves" that had their passage paid for but had to work it off at low pay taking a decade.
This summer as played out by a rumor industry, talk shows and social media is uncomfortable on fans and players.
I think Danny is just raising the ante causing LA angst and jacking up price .

I thought about it too but we'll never really know

Even if Ainge doesn't bring Kawhi here, he has to talk and compete with the other suitors.
Driving the price up can mean knocking out an asset or two from the future rival.
Maybe even future finalsts
Whoever it is Lakers or Philly. Make them compete in spending.

exactly

just feeling out the situation

sizing up the competition

getting a feel for when the best time might be to make his best offer.

Spurs doing the same.

Spurs playing hard ball.....by holding Kawhi back long as possible ,,  you screw up Lakers plans to bring in James right away .  James maybe waiting for Leonard to sign with Lakers .....Spurs holding on to Leonards puts James in bind .  Same with PG .....they may resign with their present teams .

James and PG may het antsy and want to sign sooner than latter .

oject is keep James and Leonard seperated .  .....or it will be back to a TWO team league once again.

Spurs play it right .....they prevent Lakers from getting James and PG .with delay tatics .....THEN trade Kawhi to Lakers  for a Kings ransom .   Preventing a Lakers immediate rebuild and dominance and stripping them of furture assets .

The only two ways I see Lakers getting to GS level .....is James and Kawhi on the same team some where or James on the Rockets .   Anyother other  combination is a pretender.

You do not get to the position that Danny is in without knowing how to work a room.  Good executives know how to balance the BS with the facts and not let either of them hang in the air long enough for others to know which is which! :)

Danny would trade his own mother for a good shooting guard.

Reading this mornings news headlines, maybe the Spurs are trying to extract more out of LA to get Leonard NOW so LA can get LeBUM.  In that way, maybe Danny is helping the Spurs and hurting the Lakers.  If all of this comes to pass, I hope like hell that Leonard is damaged goods and the Fakers get snookered.

And Rollie, your comment "The players are like indentured servants" - we should all be so lucky.

Danny would probably trade everyone except for his wife and his lifetime membership to Chipotle for a good shooting guard.

Danny definitely wouldn't trade that lifetime membership for a good shooting guard.

Somewhere Fultz is still standing outside of b.good wondering what he did wrong, with his hands in his jacket pockets.

No he isn't just stirring the pot.  I believe Ainge is legitimately interested in acquiring Leonard.  He isn't going to go crazy and give up both Tatum and Brown, but I absolutely believe he would trade one of them and other things for a shot at a title next year and convincing Leonard to stay long term (which also might keep Irving in town).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

No way Ainge includes Brown or Tatum in any package. I would be shocked unless Kawhi Leonard super duper pinky swore he was going to stay in Boston for more than a year. Even then we're not including Tatum. We're not going to give up a major future piece for a slightly better chance at one title next year.
