Normally I would admit that if Jaylen was traded in some trade for Kawhi, I'd cry (lol)

But after seeing us trade Isaiah last year in cold-blooded fashion, I honestly feel prepared  :P

(Also considering we let go/traded away like 11 guys last summer. WHOA)

Of course though, I hope we don't trade for Kawhi and certainly don't trade Jaylen in a deal.

I think Ainge is playing cat and mouse. Hes waiting to see what Bron does. If Bron goes West he will not need Kawhi. If he stays East, he will be willing to give up the ante to get him.

They have to know if he will resign though. Trading Kyrie would probably be a turn off.

Hopefully, Lebron goes to the Lakers.

This isn't just stirring the pot, there's a certain point at which the acquisition cost of Kawhi is low enough that Ainge would have to pull the trigger. Not everything has to be either a smoke screen or an all-out pursuit of a guy.

Do you think that Kawhi is really that good?
His last 3 full seasons, Kawhi has finished 10th, 3rd, and 2nd in MVP voting.  So, yes, he is that good.  The Spurs went from the 2nd best team in basketball to barely making the playoffs and the only real roster change was Kawhi not playing.  So, yes, he is that good.

Okay, what's your trade then Moranis?
What are you willing to give up for Kawhi?
Any number of packages would work fine for me.  In some ways it makes more sense to keep Brown than Tatum, because Brown can play SG and I don't think Kawhi, Hayward, or Tatum can, so Tatum would get squeezed and the team would be starting someone like Smart.  Whereas if you traded Tatum, but kept Brown, you then have Brown at SG, Hayward and Leonard at the 3 and 4.  That said, I'd only give up 1 of Tatum or Brown, and would only include Tatum if I had assurances that Leonard would re-sign (or at least would be likely to re-sign).

I just don't think a team like Boston should pass on a top 5 player that has only just entered his prime on the off chance he might leave in a year.  I'd go all in and use the season to convince him to stay (and winning sure does go a long way towards that).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

What the he*& are we waiting for?

If Ainge has a shot at a top 5 player he has to try and get him. It's his freaking responsibility to get him. When does an exec get a chance like this?

Leonard is shooting his way out of town and Ainge has the means to get him? A player that can put his franchise into the NBA finals with a deal here?

Leonard is being "heavily discounted".....this stuff happens once in an NBA lifetime and you want him to play somewhere else?

Ainge has a shot at getting this smash hit top 5 player for a "bag of balls" and we're worried? About what? Winning too many games?

In NBA history 2018/19 is the "era of the winger" and there he is, one of the best there is and we think Ainge is playing around?

A lot of delusional posts on here that think Ainge isn’t serious trying to get Kawhi

If we trade Brown and filler for Kawhi, win a championship, and then Kawhi bolts for LA next summer, is it worth it?  Personally, I'd rather keep Brown.

We already have 2 very good wings, either of which could one day be a top 5 player. Plus, our guys (Brown & Tatum) are younger, healthier and probably very happy to stay in Boston.

I have very little interest in Leonard - he has potential problems written all over him.

You do not get to the position that Danny is in without knowing how to work a room.  Good executives know how to balance the BS with the facts and not let either of them hang in the air long enough for others to know which is which! :)

Maybe - Let's just hope that Danny Boy has learned from past mistakes because he has done serious damage to the franchise with a couple of his over-aggressive moves.

You mean like the Brookyn trade?  ::)

If Danny did a serious damage to the franchise, he wouldn't still be our GM today, let alone have a very good situation.

If kawhi bolts, then kyrie is going to bolt faster. He’s gonna want to leave the sinking ship. It’s a scary proposition

If I were Ainge I'd go all Tyrion on Jaylen. I'd be like "Jaylen. I'm not gonna trade you to the Spurs. That's not my intention. I might dangle you to raise the price."

Then if it leaks since Jaylen is the only one you told.....trade him.

Sign me up for a banner. Then go after Klay with the cap space if Leonard bolts.
