Good job by Toucher and Rich. Danny got grilled a bit as to why Tatum didnt get more touches in the 4th quarter, reason Kyrie surgery could not be postponed, Smart contract comment after game 7 etc.

I would like to see Tatum's USAGE rate increase to 25% plus rather than the 20% he was averaging in the regular season.  He's clearly one of our best offensive weapons and he should get more touches when we NEED to get a basket.

When you're a star, you make your way during the 4th quarter of an important game (especially when surrounded by supposedly inferior players).  Had Kyrie been playing, he definitely would have been at the center of it all.

What's my point?  Tatum is not as ready as people want to believe (i.e., he's not a star).  He is not able to do what a true star can do.  So it's not on the teammates, it's not on the coach, it's about Tatum not being ready to do what people are taking for granted.

And you know what, that's perfectly fine for a 20 year old.

Why was there belief Rozier or Smart for example could suddenly make these shots?

Even if Tatum was not a star or not ready for the spotlight...wouldn't it be better to go with the player that was coming through/executing on offense?

Irving not being there in game 5 or 7 is strange....  If I say selfish, I know I will be grilled...but thats the way it looks like

With his experience and skills he could been a valuable player coach from the bench. Especially in game 7 when Rozier and Smart were nervous wrecks, launching quick ill advised shots.  As well Irving could have provided insight as to how the Cavs were playing/adjusting on defense in real time

I know Ainge says it was no big deal and team was prepared so it didn't matter if Irving was there.   I disagree

Ainge is saying all the right things to protect his coach/players.  But I think this interview will bother him a little the rest of the offseason.  I'm ok with this

People have interesting, usually very illogical ways to interpret things.  Here is how I look at it.  The Celtics could not score most of the game, and especially at the end.  Tatum was on the floor most of that time, and yes, he performed well.  But yet, we could not score most of the time. 

We can’t just look at what he did and what he didn’t do.  Yes, he scored some, but nearly not enough.  Cleveland didn’t have that issue because they have a superstar who is able to take over the game.  He demands it and all others fall in line.  Clearly jayson Tatum is not that guy yet.  He’s doesn’t demand it and he, along with the other Celtics did not get it done.

He said it because he is not (Lebron). Not even close.

Love Tatum, but think we all tend to exaggerate how good already is relative to other players on the team (e.g., Rozier and Brown). Yes, they had bad shooting nights. But did not take bad shots.  That's just how it goes sometimes. Tatum has had those nights as well. And he will again in the future.  I want this team to remain a multi-faceted team oriented offense. Yeah, when the chips are down, go with the hot hand, I get that.

But let's not suddenly proclaim Tatum the Answer to all our ills.
