I believe the Celtics need to try and move some pieces to get Bagley...aka Bosh. They will need a big man that can shoot to combat Embiid for the next 5 years.
Brown, Rozier and Kings pick could get it done.
We get a rookie contract and unload two potential bigger contracts while maintaining a good core. Money will become an issue...get it out the way now while stock is high.
I wouldn’t trade brown for Bagley, let alone throw in rozier AND the kings pick....
and why not? if you could expand and elaborate on your thoughts, it will help everyone understand your reasoning and respond better.
thanks.
Throwing in the Kings' pick would definitely be an overpay, and I would probably look for Jaren Jackson before I looked at Bagley.
Jaylen Brown was the 3d pick in the draft, and the pick clearly was not a bust. He has two years of resume and development, in which he has proven his value and now projects as a likely all-star in a few years. And, he still has two years left on his rookie deal.
We would be trading to get a player at a comparable draft slot - or even a slot or two lower! - and there is no can't-miss player in that group who will clearly be better than JB. This is not Jaylen for LeBron or Jordan out of the draft. It's value for value. The only reason we do it is if we decide we have too many wings relative to our big-man situation - to convert a wing to a big.
If we threw in Terry - who is also clearly capable of starting, maybe being a good starter if he keeps improving - that's a *very* good deal for the 3 or 4 pick this year. We'd basically be getting leveraged, because the other team knows we're set at wing and have salary issues.
And with all that said, I *still* would not do the deal. Jaylen brings something different than Hayward or Tatum - better defender, plenty of fire - and we don't know what his next step of development looks like. Given our timetable, I would not trade him for a pick. I would have to be getting back a player I *know* is ready to compete at a high level next year - when we have a legit shot at the title. I don't want to step back and wait a few years while the rook learns how to play.
