One concern I have, now that we know that we can actually field an offer in a few months, is how will our guys, specifically the youngsters, will take this knowing that this could easily be their final season for the Celtics?

I worry that this might affect us during our run.
I think the team will concentrate on the job at hand this year and do everything they can to win a title. I think knowing that nothing is going to happen until summer after this season will allow all players to play this season out to the best of their ability and have closure with this team.

Having to start with a new team at the start of a season where you have months to take care of your personal stuff has to be easier in every way than doing it mid season.
I hope you are right.  I would worry about Tatum the most for obvious reasons.
These kids are competitors. At the end of the day they are playing with the same group of guys they went to war with to start the season. They are playing to win and the Celtics youth love to win. I have zero concern about any of our players that they won't be bringing their very best night in and night out. Next year is next year and a long way away.

So with how Kyle Kuzma outperformed the Celtics tonight, does Dell Demps change his mind on the Celtics' package and take the Lakers package instead over the summer?  :'(

no because our young guys played better than their young guys

Their guys played with lebron and rondo who were the real reasons for the win

Kuz was good but Tatum was way better.  Ingram is trash for his size

After all is said and done, we now know who the aggrieved party is: Magic Johnson and the Lakers. While he negotiated above board and according to NBA rules, it was the Pelicans who did not negotiate in good faith:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25967528/lakers-magic-johnson-says-pelicans-act-good-faith

I don't want him to feel bad, so I'm thinking of starting a Go Fund Me account for him. We can all contribute a bit and buy him the world's smallest violin, so he can play whatever the heck he wants to.

Who's in?

Mike

This team isnt going to win a title as is..4th best team in East isnt going win...so trade whatever to get Davis but make sure he sign long term before a trade..if not, go different direction
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Davis scored only 3 points last night!?!  Against Orlando???

I know he is not playing is usual  but only 3 points, 6 rebs, 3 blks in 24 mins?
He did say he wanted to play the rest of the year but turns in a game like this.

Is this possibly a sign of mental softness? IDK just asking

Idk if it's that, being frozen out by teammates or having no plays run for him, but it's weird.

TP for the Uthred pic!

I think it was a tank job, Orlando is sitting right with them in the tankathon standings so they needed a loss. I actually give big props to AD on this performance.

Apparently, AD left the game tonight with a shoulder injury...  :o

At this point, you just tell the league to go screw and rest him for the remainder of the season.  It's what most teams would do even without the pending trade request.

It is complete BS that the league is effectively making them play him, lol.

Apparently, Rich Paul is at this game sitting next to... AD's dad. Not even kidding.

Is Magic on the other side of them?  (Just kidding.  It would totally be Ramona Shelbourne.)

So he leaves with a "shoulder" injury? I was watching the game and saw no such injury. Will he play in the All Star game? If so, then this is an injury fake. I don't blame New Orleans for doing it but like others have said, they should just take the fines from here on out and perhaps challenge the NBA in court and use players like JR Smith as an example of a team not forced to play a guy and not getting fined for it.

Flop tough guy
