Regarding team preferences, Boston is not a top target for Davis, sources said. There’s a growing belief of uncertainty that Kyrie Irving will not re-sign with Boston, sources said, even though he vowed to do so at the beginning of the season.

Sounds like AD doesn't want Boston if Kyrie isn't here.

Well, duh.

I'm aware of that, but some other posters seem to think we should move Kyrie now to make a run at Davis.

Crazy talk,  if Philly offers Simmons and a sweeteners NO probably jumps on that offer.    He can be the face of the franchise they desperately will need.   I'd take Simmons or Tatum,  but if Philly offers first,  why wait to let them reassess or balk in the summer.

You are all forgetting about Zion, who very well could become the second coming of Charles Barkley.

A package centered around Tatum or Simmons is far and away better than anything the Lakers can offer (and the Lakers know that and want a deal now because they cannot win in the summer), but if the Knicks get the #1 pick, Porzingis plus Zion is a better package.  What if Washington got the number 1 pick?

Whoever gets that ping pong ball can put together a very formidable package for AD.

This is not a two or three team race here. The Pels are going to wait and get the best deal possible.

well not a 2 team race but not as many team involved as you are stating it will be

So washington wins #1....  Do you think Davis will care to sign an extension?

Only Masai is crazy enough to take a chance like that

Lakers, Celtics and I guess Knicks are in this

I wouldn't rule out the Raptors.... Masai is crazy

scenario: Lakers are slow to make a proper offer

and Toronto offers Siakam, Anunoby .... whoever else outside of Leonard and trade for Davis

that would sukk

Nothing is happening in two weeks.  Absolutely nothing.  They get one shot to trade Davis, and he's not a free agent this year.  It doesn't matter how "slow the Lakers are to make a proper offer", the Pels have no reason to deal Davis till all 30 teams can make a pitch and the ping pong balls have fallen where they may.  It really is that simple.

Wrong quote. Sorry

Something like this?
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yapzdw6p

Can switch it to Hayward and attach etwan Moore? It’s still 3 plus players on cheap salary and 4 picks all under $5m, it’s proven how to do a rebuild

The next move by the Klutch mob will probably be for AD to say he doesn’t want to come to Boston. What does Ainge do then? The whole timing of this is way to sketchy. It really looks like they are trying to get him to LA.

Nothing.  Ainge doesn't have to do anything in that instance.  He doesn't need to panic.  Albeit, not perfect, this roster is loaded with assets.  Both players & draft capital.

Oh boy...if this is really the case, I would move Kyrie and get something for him. He would be the biggest public enemy in Boston sports.

The NBA is WWE level on storytelling.  Nothing is anything until its something.  The rest of the time its just fodder to keep you chatting on message boards and referencing random stories with no merit.  They do it well.

I guess time will tell. Haynes is pretty legit with what he puts out there.

This nonsense story is put out there by Rich Paul to get New Orleans to blink and make a reactionary trade. If Kyrie doesn't re-sign, Ainge doesn't have his championship team with jut Davis and no need to move from Tatum and Brown.  See the tea leaves here guy.  Every rumor you read in the next two weeks will be floated to scare New Orleans into making a trade now, because unless they win the lottery, the Lakers cannot put the best offer on the table.

Question to anyone ‘in the know’. Can AD sign and trade using the super Max in the summer and Celtics match the new higher salary? Could be a way of sliding Hayward and still giving long term players (Rozier/Smart/Brown + Semi, Theis s&t?) as a reasonable deal for NO..?

According to Yahoo's Chris Haynes, Boston is not much of a player for Davis because there is talk Kyrie does not want to stay in Boston.

Talk by whom?

Could easily be scuttlebutt put out there by competing teams that want a chance to trade for AD themselves.

AD won't be a free agent this summer.  If he's traded in the next year, whichever team that signs him when his deal runs out won't be the one that drafted him, so I'm pretty sure he won't be eligible for the super max.

see my other post

but again why would Haynes put his reputation on the line for some rumor without merit

Unless it trickled through Lebron and/or Kyrie camp

No. Designated players/supermax guys can't be traded for a year after signing the extension.

Appreciated, realise AD not FA to summer of 20 with opt out. I didn’t know if he can sign supermax this summer based on getting traded and then Boston match $40M salary instead of $27M

Thanks! That options out then! The complications of rules is half the appeal for me! Like doing a minor in US sport labour laws!

And Danny can just hint to Kyrie he might want to call AD and let him know that he will be re-signing in Boston so he may as well come to Boston to win some titles.
