Knicks and Lakers are making offers. Sixers are not pursuing him.

Of course not. That would require the Sixers discuss trading Ben Simmons and guess who Ben's agent is? Oh that's right. Rich Paul.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington

Been reading this forum for ages but the AD news finally pushed me to sign up, hoping for a warm welcome but I’ll jump straight in with a view! ;D

Great reading all this but concerned the giving up on options outside of trading Tatum, I look at previous trades of stars (albeit lesser to some extent) yielding far less than one prospect and one or two draft picks yet everyone says gotta be Tatum plus 4 picks!

Imo those picks should be enough and fill as required excluding Tatum and Irving...whether it’s built round Smart or Brown only means more cost controlled players via the Brown route.

The angle here is basically what is AD up for signing up to long term?I think Tatum potential is a huge pull to him and wins out other suitors and thus should be the absolute last resort in building trades.

The cost controlled rookie salary is gonna be huge over next few years imo and the riches of picks is being understated a wee bit imo.

Couple that with loads of reasonably priced, clear upside, well trained experienced under 25s we have to offer and really no other team comes close imo and we should all feel very confident of pairing the brow with Drew AND Tatum!

To NO we offer up to 8 players (inc 4 picks) for AD, likely all increasing assets on sub $12.5m salaries... that’s how to do a rebuild New Orleans, trust in your adopted green!

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Rich Paul has this already worked out. Guy is a snake.

Saw this at the Lakers blog

Pelicans reportedly asking Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, first-round pick in Anthony Davis trade

Does it even make sense that pels already telling Lakers what they want sound like BS to me.

why not??

how is there a guarantee that Danny will include Tatum, Brown, Rozier and multi 1sts for a one year contract left Davis??

If Pelicans will be satisfied with extracting all the best young talent as a return for Davis....then thats what they will do

Its like you are cross shopping for a car (sale ends soon)

you have three in mind and at the end of the day would be happy with any.   As long as you can get a 5,000 dollars discount or more, you take the first deal.

The sale doesn't end soon. I don't know why this so hard to understand. He's not a free agent this summer.  He's still under contract.  They will not lose him for nothing if they wait for the summer.  In fact more teams involved, with more assets drive up the price.  There is no pressure for them to take a deal in two weeks, when only a limited number of teams can bid for his services.

Regarding team preferences, Boston is not a top target for Davis, sources said. There’s a growing belief of uncertainty that Kyrie Irving will not re-sign with Boston, sources said, even though he vowed to do so at the beginning of the season.

Sounds like AD doesn't want Boston if Kyrie isn't here.

If Danny has any "completely off the table" players, then he's likely made that clear to them already. Otherwise, he risks that old saying, "A Pelican in then hand is worth two in Boston."

  • GOT IT!!!
If Anthony Davis gets traded between now and the deadline the NBA is no different than the WWE. There is absolutely no reason to trade him yet until all cards are on the table this summer.

Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Quote from: Moranis
While I think Horford and Davis can play together, Al is getting old and doesn't have much left in the tank.  In a perfect world, he would be the salary going to New Orleans in the trade.  With his salary the trade could be enlarged to include Holiday (who I don't think New Orleans would really want to keep going forward)

So next summer I'd be good with something like this

Horford, Tatum, Smart, Yabu, and the 1st's

for

Davis, Holiday

So post trade for next year with the main rotation (maybe Rozier is brought back, maybe not)

PG - Irving, Holiday
SG - Holiday, Brown
SF - Hayward, Brown, Semi
PF - Morris, Davis, Theis
C - Davis, Baynes, Williams

I like that team even without Rozier.  Still have MLE to add some vets to the team.

Wanted to respond under your post but the mods have locked that thread, hence I'm posting here.

Imo, AD is at his best when playing at the 5. The same goes for Horford.
Likewise, Holiday is at his best when playing at the 1. The same goes for Kyrie.

If we're trading for both AD and Holiday, I wouldn't be against including Kyrie in the deal.

This way
- we get an all-star caliber player to replace Kyrie
- we keep both Tatum and Brown
- we can complete the deal prior to the deadline

Boston in: AD + Holiday
Boston out: Kyrie + Horford + Kings pick + Memphis pick + Clips pick + C's 2019 first

New Orleans in: Porzingis + Horford + Lee + Kings pick + Memphis pick + Clips pick + C's 2019 first + Knicks 2019 first
New Orleans out: AD + Holiday

NY in: Kyrie
NY out: Porzingis + Lee + Knicks 2019 first

15-man roster after the trade

Holiday - Rozier - Wanamaker
Brown - Smart - Bird
Hayward - Morris - Semi
Tatum - Theis - Yabu
Davis - Baynes - Williams

interesting idea but ummm no

Pelicans won't be happy with Horford and Kristap

Celts would need to include multiple 1sts at min if they want to still hold Tatum, Brown, Rozier

Oh boy...if this is really the case, I would move Kyrie and get something for him. He would be the biggest public enemy in Boston sports.

If Irving is serious about "legacy" and wanting to win multiple rings with his own team

then he can speak to his agent/call Danny and ask him to workout a 2 year extension right now

2 year with 2nd year option  (I believe someone stated that, if he did this, then Celts can get Davis without trading Irving)

I don't know if Danny will ask him for this sacrifice.... but if Danny wants Davis that badly and can't risk losing him to the Fakers....then he will have to

It has to be 2 guaranteed years. And honestly, Irving shouldn't do that. He'd be giving up tens of millions of dollars and taking a below market deal for a GM that could trade his mother.

This is a business. GMs should do what's best for the franchise and players should do what's best for themselves.

Davis is giving up 80 million dollars by not supermaxing with the Pels.

10s of millions is nothing, especially for a guy who is staring in movies now.

The NBA is WWE level on storytelling.  Nothing is anything until its something.  The rest of the time its just fodder to keep you chatting on message boards and referencing random stories with no merit.  They do it well.

According to Yahoo's Chris Haynes, Boston is not much of a player for Davis because there is talk Kyrie does not want to stay in Boston.

I guess time will tell. Haynes is pretty legit with what he puts out there.
