Saw this at the Lakers blog

Pelicans reportedly asking Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, first-round pick in Anthony Davis trade

Does it even make sense that pels already telling Lakers what they want sound like BS to me.

That’s Lakers fan fiction. Pelicans would certainly ask for Ingram along with everything else

Yeah, if that was the “asking price”, the deal would be done.

If Irving is serious about "legacy" and wanting to win multiple rings with his own team

then he can speak to his agent/call Danny and ask him to workout a 2 year extension right now

2 year with 2nd year option  (I believe someone stated that, if he did this, then Celts can get Davis without trading Irving)

I don't know if Danny will ask him for this sacrifice.... but if Danny wants Davis that badly and can't risk losing him to the Fakers....then he will have to

Woj is also reporting that the Knicks will be very aggressive in trading for AD. They could very well get the #1 pick (Zion). Another reason for NO to wait.

If they did get the #1 pick, that would give NYK the single most valuable trade asset on the board.

Plus, they could probably keep enough cap space to go after Durant, Kemba Walker or Jimmy Butler. A Big 3 of AD, Porzingis and one of those three. That should be enough to convince AD to sign an extension.

I also think Kyrie could go to the Knicks in that scenario, as much as I hate to say it.

Kyrie already committed to the Celtics before the season started though. Sure legally he could leave, but for all intents and purposes he committed long term to Boston

And? He wouldn't be under contract. He can and should do whatever is best for him. If that's joining AD in NY, then so be it.

Ainge will trade any player at any given time no matter what he's done for the franchise and we applaud him for it. I have no issue with players doing the same.

Crazy talk,  if Philly offers Simmons and a sweeteners NO probably jumps on that offer.    He can be the face of the franchise they desperately will need.   I'd take Simmons or Tatum,  but if Philly offers first,  why wait to let them reassess or balk in the summer.

You are all forgetting about Zion, who very well could become the second coming of Charles Barkley.

A package centered around Tatum or Simmons is far and away better than anything the Lakers can offer (and the Lakers know that and want a deal now because they cannot win in the summer), but if the Knicks get the #1 pick, Porzingis plus Zion is a better package.  What if Washington got the number 1 pick?

Whoever gets that ping pong ball can put together a very formidable package for AD.

This is not a two or three team race here.  The Pels are going to wait and get the best deal possible.

It has to be 2 guaranteed years. And honestly, Irving shouldn't do that. He'd be giving up tens of millions of dollars and taking a below market deal for a GM that could trade his mother.

This is a business. GMs should do what's best for the franchise and players should do what's best for themselves.

Pelicans situation is this imo

1.  trade Davis now for Kuzma, Ingram, Ball, 2018 1st..... BUT still remain a nobody team.  Only at the cusp of making the playoffs

2.   Shut down Davis, trade Holiday, Moore etc.  and tank for Zion.   Trade Davis in the offseason to the highest bidder

3.  But at this point will Lakers pull their original deal?  since Davis has only one year left and they can sign him as a FA

4.  Will Danny Ainge and Celtics WANT to include Lakers comparable trade assets Tatum, Brown, Rozier with Davis having one year left on his opt out contract with no commitment to resign??   (its like the Leonard situation all over again)

5.  The Knicks don't win the draft lottery... so not really a prospective trade partner

6.  Celtics win the championship.  Durant or Curry becomes injured in the playoffs ....who knows. But if this happens and Danny at this point does not plan to trade for Davis any longer

If I'am the Pelicans I'm not waiting until the offseason.  Especially with a chance the Lakers pull out, plus Celtics downgrade their offer due to AD non commitment to want to stay there long term.

Get the best offer you can get now.  Trade Holiday, Moore for picks.   Do whatever possible to tank for a top 5 pick in hopes to notch Zion.

Unless the Lakers are going to go cheap  (only offer Ingram, Ball as main pieces but no Kuzma)...  I doubt the Celts will be able to get Davis in the offseason

This is not a two team race.

well not a 2 team race but not as many team involved as you are stating it will be

So washington wins #1....  Do you think Davis will care to sign an extension?

Only Masai is crazy enough to take a chance like that

Lakers, Celtics and I guess Knicks are in this

I wouldn't rule out the Raptors.... Masai is crazy

scenario: Lakers are slow to make a proper offer

and Toronto offers Siakam, Anunoby .... whoever else outside of Leonard and trade for Davis

that would sukk

If conversations between teams have gone far prior to this, in anticipation of it, then a deal could happen in next days.
If conversations have not been extensive, then it will be hard to get it down now.
Won't be surprised either way.

As a huge Jrue Holiday fan, I would be okay with a mega blockbuster that gives the Pels enough even if Kyrie bolts...an overpay in other words.  Though I'm sure some will hate it.  As I said I'm a big Holiday fan and think
he fits the Celtics perfectly.  He can play 1 and 2 and is a tough defender with good offense (good enough at least).
I'm also nearly as high on Brown as Tatum (love both).  This draft has excellent wings to back up Brown, Morris and Smart.

Irving, Tatum, Hayward, Robert Williams (Memphis pick if Irving disinclined to stick in N.O.)

for

Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday, Darius Miller

Rozier, Smart, Wannamaker
Holiday, Smart, Brown
Brown, Morris, Smart
Horford, Morris, Davis, Theis
Davis, Baynes, Horford

With Ojeleye and Yabu

Draft Hunter or Hachimura, Dort, etc...

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7ruakx3   (added Darius Miller to this)

Davis is not coming here if Kyrie isn't here. That is the whole purpose of the Kyrie-recruiting and Danny plans.

Agree my trade would not happen for a number of reasons....and agree that Danny would surely like to pair Kyrie and Davis, but disagree that Danny would not pull the trigger if there is some way to get Davis that has to include Kyrie being traded (probably three team deal).

I think New Orleans has to be smart here and wait until the summer.  They probably will have more/better options available to them.

If Pelicans will be satisfied with extracting all the best young talent as a return for Davis....then thats what they will do

Its like you are cross shopping for a car (sale ends soon)

you have three in mind and at the end of the day would be happy with any.   As long as you can get a 5,000 dollars discount or more, you take the first deal.

Nothing is happening in two weeks.  Absolutely nothing.  They get one shot to trade Davis, and he's not a free agent this year.  It doesn't matter how "slow the Lakers are to make a proper offer", the Pels have no reason to deal Davis till all 30 teams can make a pitch and the ping pong balls have fallen where they may.  It really is that simple.

If that's what the Pelicans actually wanted, this deal would already be consummated & done.

It's fiction.

Not making this political but does anyone else see the correlation of Donald Trump/Michael Cohen to LeBron James/Rich Paul?

Paul doing this 10 days before the trade deadline, a deadline LeBron knows the Celtics can't compete for Davis during, sure seems like something Trump would tell Cohen to take care of.

This announcement is nothing more than Paul doing everything he can to get his client to LA to play with the guy he is pretty much the cleaner/fixer for.

I agree. It's super problematic and Rich Paul clearly works on Lebron's behalf, but he represents so many other players. Just look at Kentavious Caldwell Pope. I don't believe for a second that his overpay the past two years in LA wasn't designed as a set up to allow LA to talk to Lebron before his free agency.

But they're technically not breaking any rules.

Knicks and Lakers are making offers. Sixers are not pursuing him.
