The win. They don't need the pick to be contenders.

Making the finals(I know still have to win 2 more) would be huge for the young guys in terms of experience.

The pick.  We aint winning the championship.  Number 2 would change our next 5 years.

I think the pick would be more exciting, if only for the unlikeliness of it.

You know everyone will be going wild if Silver skips the Lakers with the 5th envelope. And then have to wait like 15 minutes to see if we get it.

A win tonight certainly puts us in the drivers seat, but is not necessarily required to win the series. Still plenty more series left to play regardless of tonight’s outcome.

If this was a game 7 to go to the finals or the 2/3 pick, I’d take the win.

Not many give Boston a chance tonight. Most are saying James goes for 40 and the first game was a fluke. SMH

The pick.  We aint winning the championship.

Why not? Your thinking is part of the problem.

There are 2 things that you don't need a lot of experience for in the NBA: Athleticism and Determination. The Celtics players are the hardest working players in the NBA. And they're athletic freaks. They're disciplined on the offense and defense end.

Boston's Playoff 3pt %:
Baynes: 47.4%
Brown: 42.9%
Morris: 41.7%
Rozier: 38.4%
Horford: 37.9%
Tatum: 32%
Smart: 21.4%

GSW's Playoff 3pt %:
Curry: 41%
Thompson: 38.2%
Iguodala: 36.7%
Draymond: 32.7%
Durant 29.7%

If we shoot well and defend well, why can't we win?

We can still win the series with a loss tonight.

I'm taking the pick all the way.

That additional top 3 talent makes this team a Golden State killer next season.

Having a player like Doncic or Bagley as your 9th/10th man is just not even fair!

I predict if our former Brooklyn pick ends up top 3 for the Cavs, they end up trading for kawhi and keep Lebron.

The pick and what else to match salary? Nance and a bunch of trash? Don’t get me wrong that pick is an A+ asset, but Danny could likely beat that offer if he thought it was a crisis.

Not only that, but Cleveland would have to be sure Kawhi is willing to sign long term. Pretty sure his camp wants him on a big market team like LAL, LAC, MIA, NYK or PHI.

I don't think CLE's FO wants to give up a Top-3 pick for rental Kawhi.

I imagine they'll want Lebron to sign another deal (at least 2-3 years) to ensure he stays in CLE for some more years before making that move. I think Lebron would be fine with that though.

For all those saying the pick because we can still win the series after a loss tonight... Technically you are right but you're being naive. This is about trying to end LeBron reign. It's rare he gives you a second chance. Game 2 is huge for us, we must win.

Edit: this Q reminds me of the first playoffs with IT. Would you rather make the playoffs or get a top 10 pick. We know how that worked out.. WELL

Yeah but on this question we could get both!

In reverse, does anybody think that Cavs fans would be opposed to taking the loss in return for the #2 pick?

Lebron going down 0-2, but getting a potential franchise cornerstone? That’s not a tough call.

I’d gladly take 1-1 if the return is potentially a franchise player. And seriously, where’s the confidence? People are acting like 1-1 is being down 3-0. Does our team have that little resilience?

I'm all about ending Lebron's reign in this series, but we all saw what happened in the 2010 offseason when Lebron realized he couldn't win with his group in Cleveland. I personally would love Lebron to stay with the Cavs and continue his uphill battle to the finals - only we will have Kyrie and Hayward. It seems anywhere else he ends up will be considerably better (Philly, Houston, LAL with George and Kawhi) - that is much scarier than him sticking it out with his questionable supporting cast in CLE.

The fans are more scared of LeBron than The Celtics are!

I’m most surprised that people picked the game.

#2 means luka doncic (the most nba ready draft pick of all time).

You think Doncic is more NBA ready than Tim Duncan?

Or Larry Bird?

Just because a player exceeds expectations and the result is that he's NBA ready from day 1 does not mean that he was considered NBA ready on draft day. Remember, Bird was taken 6th. Now, if we could jump into a time machine and redraft the '78 draft, I'm pretty sure Bird is taken 1st. It's just a bad argument.

Luka Doncic is already a top professional basketball player for 3 years in the 2 best leagues outside of the NBA. If there's ever a chance of someone entering the NBA and dominating from day 1, it's him. Why do I say that? Because he's already doing it. We don't have to guess.
Bird was taken an entire year before he would come to the NBA. That's how NBA ready he was. The ONLY reason he was chosen sixth is because although eligible to come out as a junior, he made it known he would be returning to school. Red was willing to wait the year and sign him before the draft the following year because he knew was not only NBA ready but a star from game 1. If Red didn't sign him he would have re-entered the draft and could well have been taken 1st and been a Laker.

Duncan was a 4 year colege player and was expected to be a star from the get go. He proved that.

Doncic might be the most NBA ready 18 year old ever but I don't see him as the most NBA rookie ever.
