Why bother to draft this year

We have so many young players the odds of finding a hidden gem are remote .
Next year Hayward ,Kyrie and Theis will come back after committed rehabs.
Kyrie says he only scratched the surface and Theis has shown the length and defensive versatility in only his first season in NBA.
Baynes given green light to shoot threes and he is showing potential.
What can we find in draft at 27-

I'd rather have some guy we pick at #27 than Nader on the roster. It's also very unlikely that we keep both Baynes and Monroe, and we may lose Smart

So if we lose even 1 of those 4, we should pick someone. I reckon Nader will (hopefully) be cut, and Monroe will probably get an offer we can't/won't beat

Danny always has the draft and stash option on an international prospect if there is nobody who can help right away. 

In terms of positional need, I wouldn't be surprised if Danny tries to find a physical big man.  There's a strong possibility that we won't be able to retain Baynes after this season.  It would be nice to find a backup option to replace those 15-20 minutes of physicality.

Admittedly I'm not the biggest college basketball follower anymore but I'd be interested to hear what people think of Brandon McCoy from UNLV.  7-0, 255 with excellent length.  Below is a brief description from NBAdraft.net that stands out.

"Good motor. Runs the floor well. Gets back on defense every play … Good rebounder. Crashes offensive glass … Good shot blocker, has potential as a reliable rim protector … Tries to use his size advantage at all times, backing down smaller players at every opportunity … Communicates with teammates. Can play on either end of a high/low with another big … Has shown great strides in his overall development over the last two years of high school, especially his awareness and coordination … ".

These are all qualities that would mesh well with Brad Stevens coaching style.

I can see them trading out of the 1st for 2nd rds. It just makes too much sense considering you dont have to pay a guaranteed contract

Trading no or selling out of the pick is always an option and one that many contenders have done in the past in prefer to save $$ and roster space. I personally do not like this idea. Drafting and developing a player even if he is never better then the 10th man reinforces the team culture and creates stability. I would rather see the 15th man be a 21 year old project then a 30 somth Ngnyear old journeyman

Anybody we draft is going to struggle with development as we have a stacked team-there were 5 rookies this season Jayson,Semi,Yabusele,Theis and Nader.
Isn't it better to trade the pick or do a swap back in years.
We seem stacked with youth that play multiple positions.
We signed Larkin and Theis out of Europe.
Morris spent pre season in court and had a nagging knee injury throughout the season
So i think next season he will come back better conditioned and motivated by this season and his vet presence with the kids.

Hear what you are saying, but you know Danny isn't standing pat and twiddling his thumbs while the rest of the league tries to improve themselves.

He's going to squeeze every ounce of talent out of anybody he can get his hands on, so he'll be ready to do something at the draft to help this team.  It could be trading the pick...it could be moving backwards into the second round...but guarantee he'll do what he believes is best for the Celtics when all is said and done.

I think they sell high on Rozier. Trade him to the Clippers at 11 (thereby increasing the odds of the Clippers pick conveying in 2019) and take Zaire Smith then let Larkins go and take Jalen Brunson at 27.

Even the last few #27 picks have been absolute steals. Kuzma, Siakam, Nance Jr., Bogdanovic and Gobert.
