The fact of Simmons shooting fouls at 56% alone makes him a liability in 4th quarters in playoffs. And at some point that will be the difference if these two clubs fight it out for years .Foul shots in Boston in that atmosphere Simmons will fold.Brad will game plan around his weaknesses for a decade.Marcus with his quick hands will disrupt his trips to the paint and semi will take charges along with Morris. The Celts can run an array of different style defenders at him never letting him get comfortable.  They will have one thing in common strength, desire to play defense and can't be bullied.
Now Jason seems unruffled at the line and Jasons all around game in playoffs becomes more valuable. Many strengths and negligible weaknesses rather than a guy playing point guard that has no jump shot,no threes  and shoots foul shots that poorly.
How many series over all these years came down to foul shooting-who you targeted, who you wanted to handle the ball. How you defend the last shot.Call him what you want but against the Celtics he is going to struggle

it may be his weakness this season but after getting out of the first round and now in the 2nd with us, i think he'll gradually improve next year. It's an advantage for us this series, but i can see him working on some of his weaknesses the offseason

Simmons is a unique player.  We get it.  And sure, shooting in general is going to be an issue for him.  But plenty of dominate players couldn't shoot free throws and still won titles.  Shaq and Wilt are to examples.

That said, I'm glad I don't have to root for this type of player because it's not easy.  Similar issues as Rondo and he'll probably be polarizing for the philly fan base for years to come.

Yup.

He needs to tighten up the TOs, improve shooting, and if shooting isn't coming work on his post game.

But the talent is immense and I really do feel he is going to great player in this league. He's so good even with his warts, I feel really good about his chances to take future leaps.

He is going to be polarizing for years, but a 6' 10" Rondo sounds pretty good to me even if he doesn't progress as much as I expect.
