I know we're still waiting for his MRI and it obviously will play a huge part in this decision but, seeing the schedule, it seems to me sitting out game 1 to get extended rest before game 2 could be a better option to have him healthy (or as healthy as he can be) for the rest of the series : he would not play from Sunday to Thursday (Game 2) whereas playing Game 1 would have him playing two days only after Game 7, on Monday.

His teammates could prepare for game 1 without him, which is obviously will be harder since we're already way short on players, but at least they'd be mentally ready. Thoughts ?

We'll likely drop Game 1 with Brown out. But I don't mind sitting him out. He is a long-term solution for the future and we need him healthy!

That means we need to really win Game 2 and steal Game 3 or 4 to have a chance!

If the doctors clear him out, then let him play. Otherwise, just shelf him until he's ready to go, regardless of the outcome of the series.

Depends on the medical assessment. You can always rest a player later in a series. Personally I always err on the side of safety. If a player isn't 100%, don't risk it unless it is likely to be the last game in a series. A 90% Lebron would be more use on the court if a series was tied 3-3 for example. From what has been said so far about Jaylen, I would have him suited up but rest him if possible. Hamstrings are tricky injuries.

Probably so .  Rest seems to be the best for hamstring .

I d shoot for game two or three.

Utah s guard is supposed to miss 10 days with his hamstring issue.  10 days without Brown is a certain Playoff death sentence.

ultimately in the final analysis Boston can't beat Raptors without their stars in a series and Philly just doesn't have the experience to beat the Raptors in playoffs.

I would sit him game 1 and hope for Thursday which gives him 5 days. I mean we have Nader on the bench so what are we worried about? Is there a way we can activate Bird for game 1 if Jaylen sits?

Boy, I hope this is sarcasm, because Nader is beyond terrible.

You caught me. Definite sarcasm because I cannot stand ever seeing him in the game. I seriously would prefer to see Bird in the game before Nader.

Sit him for sure.  If by chance the C's can win game one, sit him game 2.  Hamstrings are tough, he can go from maybe playing to done for playoffs in one instant.

Good thing Marcus is back.  How many times can the next man up keep working?  Actually if smart moves into starting role what is rotation going to be?

I can see more Baynes and Monroe this series.  Maybe Stevens starts rozier, tatum, Morris, baynes and horford?

If he's declared ready by the medical staff, then let him play. We really need him, and we can't afford to give away any games in this series. If the medical staff has any hesitation though, then we have to sit him.

All we need is for this kid to tear something and never be the same. I need him close to 100% and pain free before I even think about risking Jaylen. I have to be really really sure.

This is purely a medical decision.  If he is not 100%, there is no point in playing him.  He will not be as effective and may aggravate the injury.  We are running out of options so there is a point where 80% of Brown is may be better than 100% of say Nader but I really don't think they will go there.  I think Brown plays when he is 100% (or maybe 99%) and no sooner.

I don't think Brown is going to pull a Willis Reed (see 1970).
