This kid badly needs a mentor who will hold him accountable. Right now, he’s immature and lacks discipline.

It seems like he and Okafor were the two left behind as a result of the Process.  It's too bad.

I mean, I couldn't care less that he's toking up from a strictly personal stance.  But professional athletes know the rules and the consequences.

The inability or refusal to comply with the rules of your profession is never a good sign.  It shows a lack of accountability and respect for those that depend on you, and possibly a substance abuse/dependence situation.

Well Noel is doing his best to kill the market for his services.  Maybe we can go in cheap on him as a reclamation project and have him be an energy big off the bench?  Too bad we don't have a KG type player to provide some 'tough love' and inspire him to be a better player.  Maybe there are others on our team that could help out with that role, not sure.

Brad seems pretty good at getting the most out of his players.  Noel has the physical tools to be a great def big.  I don't know if he will ever be a good offensive player, but on a cheap contract he would look great as depth next year.

Either way he needs to stop doing things to get in trouble (going for a hot dog in the media room during games, and getting suspended) and show GM's that he is worth at least a decent contract.  The way things ended in Dallas who knows what kind of offers he will get?

FROM THE RULES

Threads that involve illegal or particularly inflammatory topics, such as abortion, personal use of drugs, or 9/11 conspiracy theories will be locked on a preemptive basis.  Threads about personal drug use are similarly prohibited

SO KEEP SUBJECT ON NOEL AND OFF LEGALIZATION OR PERSONAL USE OF POT OR THREAD WILL BE LOCKED

I'm really not trying to start an argument, but I'm not sure this thread warranted a warning. Nobody is talking about their own personal drug use and the rule doesn't seem to state that discussing legalizing certain drugs is disallowed (especially one like Marijuana which is already 'kind-of' legal). I'm just not sure where the 'inflammatory' statements are going to come from on a thread like this.

As for Noel, I kind-of feel bad for him for passing up that $70M contract. I believe he still has a lot of years left in the NBA, but he clearly needs a new start/veteran presence.

Don't consider it a warning. Consider it a preemptive suggestion to stay away from the subject of legalization of marijuana. The subject could very easily have gone in that direction.

I didn't intend to derail the thread or violate rules, so if I contributed to the concern, I apologize.

Suspended for a marijuana violation? In the NBA?  ::)

This is like the 3rd or 4th time he's popped dirty. Dude is a low life and a few people here pointed that out with the way he lives his life when everyone wanted him in Boston.

Some people make bad life decisions and sometimes those people are talented so they get by just fine for awhile. I wouldn't want him anywhere near my locker room.

Really? Because he smoked some weed? What terrible thing did he do next? Played some video games and ate a bag of chips?

Seriously, I would much prefer someone who smokes pot to a guy who goes out drinking all night, which is allowed.

The league need to change that rule. It's just plain stupid. It's legal in many states now, as more and more people realize the absurdity of arresting someone for that.
you need to check out his patterns of behavior prior to this. it goes way beyond the most recent event.

The only way I think it makes sense to bring Noel here is as a replacement for one of Baynes or Monroe.

Next year I'd expect the C's to start Horford, Hayward, Tatum, Brown and Kyrie. If Noel is willing to be a 3rd string center behind either Baynes or Monroe then I'd love to have him here.

He could be a great reclamation project for Stevens but I wouldn't choose him over Baynes or Monroe.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

I'm curious as to whether this policy will change once it becomes legal in MA? Isn't this blog based in Massachusetts?

IDC what anyone's personal stance on the marijuana topic is.....but these athletes know that it's banned by the NBA.  I have no sympathy for any of these millionaires that gets pinched for it as it shows they care more about getting high than being rich by playing a game.

plus the league gives you 2 freebies.  Getting caught a 3rd time is just terrible from that perspective for both Noel and Sefolosha

If he turned down a $70/4 contract I highly doubt he'd be okay with being a 3rd string center. Guy just seems like a bonehead, regardless of him getting caught with weed in his system 3 times.

Real waste of talent, his rookie season was some of the most fun defence I can remember watching a rookie play. Basically 2bpg and 2spg was awesome.

He's going to really regret turning down 70/4. I predict he gets less than half that per year in free agency. I'd expect him to be looking at similar money to Monroe or Baynes.
