*Hayward opts in for $34 million at age 30. Yikes.

*let Hayward Walk ?(he'll be 31)

I'm note sure why you think that's old. Especially for a player as skilled (shooting, passing, and ballhandling) as Hayward. The ankle injury not withstanding, he's been healthy his entire career; and should continue to play at an all-star level at those ages. In fact, I'm hoping we re-sign him to a multi-year deal when he's 31. I can easily see him having a Schrempf type career as his game, albeit Hayward is more athletic, is very reminiscent of Detlef's who was an all-star at ages 30, 32, and 34.

Rozier has become one of my favorite players, but there's no way he's going to be a max player. And right now, that's about the worst thing I have to say about him.

One other factor: We have a Memphis pick somewhere in there, and that's probably going to be a pretty good one. A ton is going to change between now and then, but this is gonna be a fun team.

Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford

Try to keep that group together for as long as possible and see how many games they can win each year.

It's not that complicated.  Keep those 5 together, piece together a supporting cast via free agency and the draft, keep Brad Stevens around to coach them, and see what happens.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I'd just like to see this group PLAY together. We should have had at least two years of this and we'll probably get less than one at worst.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Irving, Brown, Hayward, and Tatum, and two guys not on the roster. I don't think Horford will be a big factor when this team is ready to win a championship.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

You don’t think they’ll be ready next year? Why not??

It's the size of his deal. Granted it's only one year and Horford's huge contract will be gone, but we'll essentially have $70 million tied up with Kyrie and Hayward and Hayward will be on the tail end of his prime.
Let's pray they're both healthy.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
