Here are the scenarios for our opponent, helpfully organized by possible results tonight.

Looks like Miami is the most likely with Washington and Milwaukee about equal.
Miami IF Washington loses today doubt they lose to the Magic

Or if all three teams win, but yeah they have the easiest opponent of the 3.  But also I have faith that Washington's more than capable of losing to anyone, they're nothing if not erratic this year.

So looks like most likely we'll see WASH.  They likely want to play us ans should easily beat down Orl.  Philly also wants us in their bracket so they'll beat the bucks.

Only real wildcard is the heat.  I'm sure they want to play us too but don't have any control over it really.  They win we get Wash, they lose we get the bucks.

I don't think Washington is the most likely outcome at all.  Milwaukee and Miami are both likely to lose their last game, which means Boston avoids Washington.

The only part Washington plays in this if Miami and Milwaukee both have a similar outcome, in terms of which one of them we play (MIA or MIL).  Washington has no control over whether or not they play Boston, that solely depends on whether not MIA and MIL both win/lose or split.

If MIA and MIL both win/lose Boston avoids WAS, if they split Boston plays WAS.  That is regardless of what WAS does.

Pretty sure Wash has to win to play us and get help from the other 2 games.
ok fine

Washington must beat Orlando to have any chance at not being the 8 seed and playing Toronto.  If Washington wins they could end up playing Phil., Boston or Toronto depending on other results.

Milwaukee needs to win to insure keeping it's draft pick as it goes to Phoenix if it is 1-16.  If they lose they could still keep it but would likely be in a coin flip with one or both of Washington/Miami.  They also likely play Cleveland in the 1st round if they do beat Phil. today and that is no prize.

Miami is in a tough spot as either winning or losing they could end up in a worse spot depending on other results.  They end up playing Phil. or Boston if they win depending on the Milwaukee/Phil. game.  If Miami loses they get Toronto if Washington wins and Boston if Washington loses.

Correct - they lose and they're the 8 seed regardless. They win and they can range from 6-8 depending on the other 2 games.

Looks like Dragic is probably out tonight, making a Toronto win and Miami loss very likely.

That then leaves us hoping in the best case scenario for (1) a Washington loss and a Milwaukee loss, leaving us Miami in the first round and Philly/Milwaukee in the second round, or more realistically (2) a Washington win and a Milwaukee loss, which would set up a Milwaukee/Boston first round and a second round against Philly/Washington.

While unlikely, I think the first scenario is our best shot at the ECF. But I would love to see the second scenario, as I can see Washington knocking off Philly, which would be hilarious to see given how overhyped and exaggerated that team is right now.

basically nothing is set in stone

what happens if Cavs win but 76ers lose and both have the same record?

ok found the answer

Cleveland, owns the tiebreaker over Philly via conference record

The no answer if the Bucks, Miami, Washington if tied.  Plus Bucks plays 76ers so whoever wins effects could affect both top and bottom part of the standings

East and West super tight this season

West playoff picture

Quote
The playoffs start Wednesday.

Officially, that's not true. But the Denver at Minnesota game on Wednesday night (8 ET, NBA League Pass) may as well be considered a play-in game: Winner moves on, loser goes home.

Monday started with four spots available out West, and ended with only one still unclaimed. New Orleans, San Antonio and Oklahoma City all won to clinch their playoff berths - the Spurs doing so for the 21st consecutive year, tying Portland for the second-longest run in NBA history and moving one shy of tying Philadelphia's league record (which started when the 76ers were the Syracuse Nationals).

The funny part about Monday's triple-clinchings is that nothing changed in the standings. The order of the top eight remains the same, going into the next-to-last day of the regular season.

It won't stay that way. Get ready for craziness.

*Portland and Utah can still get to No. 3. The Blazers, Jazz, Pelicans, Thunder and Spurs are in the mix for No. 4. The Spurs could also fall as far as No. 8. The Thunder, who are in seventh, cannot finish seventh. There's at least a dozen more scenarios.

Wednesday night will be great fun.

* madness!

If all 3 teams tie with 44 wins then it's Miami over Washington over Milwaukee.

We beat Miami. in 5

Might might pull out a tuff struggle with Bucks   50-50

Probally lose to Washington ,who hate the Celtics alot .   much revenge ....Marcus Morris is a Patsy when facing his brothers team. He lays down.

To beat Washington have to have Smart , or Wall will run wild.

I voted Washington to envoke the REVERSE jinx theorem...
