Since the All-star break, the Celtics have look like a completely rejuvenated team.
They have put up point totals of 110, 121, 109, and 134 and have won 4 straight games to boot.  The math says that's an average point total of 118.5.
They've also given up 104.5 points, on average. More importantly, they played four sub-.500 teams. I wouldn't overly excited here.
Winning games by an average of 14 points is a good thing last I checked.

Let's keep some context here ::)

Kyrie Irving was going away the best player on the floor last night. And I think Jaylen Brown was second. I'm seeing more and more maturity in his game.

Tatum seems exhausted, however. And I think our playoff hopes really hinge on his scoring.  Kyrie is going to get the best defenders on him, and maybe doubled in the playoffs. Other than Tatum, who can we rely on offensively? I think Baynes' game last night was an anomaly.

Context says we played 4 god-awful teams.

I would say at Detroit was a solid win, but agree the other 3 were very bad teams.

The schedule gets a lot tougher starting with Houston.  I think we'll know soon whether the recent good run is real or not.

  • GOT IT!!!
This team is pretty good when they don't get down double digits at the half. Who would've thought?! Toronto has yet to have a skid in the schedule. I think that needs to happen for the C's to have any chance at regaining the top seed.

We play them twice. So if we just stay even and win those...!

Well, TOR is currently 2 games ahead in the loss column, so there's that...

What’s that look like once adjusted for pace?

I'm licking my lips for 2018-19 season because a healthy Hayward and this teams going to be scary good.

This team has overachieved as every Steven's team does so I'm just enjoying this ride instead of having unrealistic expectations.
ok fine

The schedule gets a lot tougher starting with Houston.  I think we'll know soon whether the recent good run is real or not.

It's real. The Celtics were hitting some very tough shots last night.

I would love to see us beat Houston. Harden walks every time he makes a move.

Hitting tough shots is pretty random and entirely unsustainable.

Bad teams aside the Offense has picked up a notch and having Smart back has helped shore up the D.  They are heating up and Saturday coming off of two days rest will definitely show what this team is made of.  Houston is playing their best ball of the season so this will be a great indicator as to where this team is at.

Someone raised a good point in another thread and that is that right now, CLE is at risk to falling to 4th or 5th which would be great.  I think people are forgetting that the Cavs are going to get Love back pretty soon.  Think what you will about Love (I think he is overrated) but he will be a huge upgrade over Cedi Osman.

Anyway, If CLE drops to 4th or 5th, then I think I would rather be 2nd as I think CLE with Love will be in the Eastern Conf finals.  Don't want to have to play both CLE and TOR, rather see them fight is out against each other.
