Should’ve drafted Donavan Mitchell.   ;)

He’s young, in his first year, playing more games this year then probably the previous five combined. And don’t forget he has a newborn. Earlier in the season he was more aggressive he just needs to get back to that mindset.

Something like this I think. Nothing major, I believe that he will find form as the team is on the improve. He has the best coach in the league to look after a young man in his first season in the NBA.

I think a chunk of Tatum’s playoff minutes will be going to Morris (or hopefully Hayward).

Tatum is the real deal, but he’s still a rookie after all.

He'll be ok in the playoffs.  I don't know if he's hit a rookie wall.  It seems to me more like he's pacing himself.  He seemed to play with more energy earlier in the season.  He's kind of coasting and really doesn't impose his will on the game unless he decides to make a move with the ball.

In contrast, Josh Jackson is playing with a motor as good as advertised.  He's had a very good couple of weeks and had a monster game last night with 29points and all of the hustle stats.

he looks totally different, the last 20 games or so. Out of control on the dribble, no more of that smoothness that we all fell for.
Brad has to find a way to get him a proper 5 shots every half, otherwise i would be fine if morris eats up a lot of his minutes.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Tatum has become timid and less confident. As everyone is mentioning, I suppose it is the 'rookie wall' or his new baby, but I have almost forgotten how confident and smooth he was earlier in the season. The only shots he takes are iso outside jumpers and lay-ups that he now misses or gets stripped on the way. This guy needs summer break in a big way.

Jaylen otoh is displaying the potential we all hoped for - consistent from 3pt, hitting his fts, advanced dribble moves and hesitation that is opening up lanes to the hoop, even his fall-aways are looking good. Combine that with his elite defense and intense focus and I think we've really got something here.

Of course Jaylen is in 2nd year and is 1 1/2 years older than Tatum, but most people certainly had Tatum over Brown earlier in the season - I am not sure that is the case anymore. Tatum still has sky-high potential, but he has to change his body language and get that confidence back.

Are you saying he will wilt under the big lights? I think he will be who he is and will be fine I'm not worried about it.

Jayson Tatum could become the first Celtics rookie to start all 82 since Larry Bird...

Almost nobody is talking about it, since he's a rookie, but are we sure that Tatum can hold his own in the playoffs as a starter?

He is a huge reason they have any chance to make the NBA Finals.  I am not worried about him.

I never expected the absolute best of Tatum come playoff time.  The 50% three point shooting was simply unsustainable.  It also appears that his early season rebounding was somewhat of an anomaly.  On the flip side I would be surprised to see anything close to his worst either.  Brad will probably try to simplify things come playoff time.  Tatum needs to hit wide open shots and be decisive with any mismatches.  No missed rotations either.

The real key here is what version of Morris will we see come playoff time.  Brad loses flexibility with Tatum if Morris plays anything like he did through most of February.

What?... there's about 10 to 12 games left and Tatum has been out a few. Confused by this post lol

The Celtics have played 65 games, and Taytum has started all of them.

Looking back, of the few rookies that had a chance to do this, I think I'm most surprised ML Carr actually showed some restraint and brought Walker off the bench for several games (he only started 68 of 82).  He started him at all 5 positions and seemingly let him do whatever he wanted, but still tried bringing him off the bench midseason.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I don't think he's going to be a problem.   He might be a deer in highlights at some points but I think there is a pretty decent chance that they'll be one or two games come playoff time where we'll be talking afterwords about how he was the sparkplug or something along those lines.  Coming back in the game and hitting back to back 3s or something that played a vital role in a playoff win.  You know something along those lines.....

He's a rookie.  There are still going to be ups & downs with the kid but he certainly has a skill set that could make him special.

If Tatum is the person we are worried about in the playoffs then man we are in real good shape..
