If he is in shape then sign him, zero risk and potential big reward
If he dies he dies, we all die, it's not like driving or flying won't got you killed
What a ridiculous way to think about it

“Sure you can go play on the highway kids! If you die you die, it’s an inevatibility after all. Accelerating the process through exposure to danger isn’t bad at all!”
Then you should never leave your house to "not exposure to danger" because Car accidents kills millions times more than clog disorders
Clog disorders kill thousands of toilets daily.

Have to admit the statement sounds a bit callous....but I take the same philosophy with regards to my mountain and road biking. I accept the risks. If I die in the process, that is okay with me. I imagine anyone who rides a motorcycle feels the same way.

As for Bosh signing with the Celtics I'm all for it providing he's in great shape and cleared to play by at least 3 independent doctors.

The complete lack of empathy for the players is so mething I find disturbing in a Celtic fan. My guess is Csfan1984 and playdream weren't Celtics fans during the Bias and Lewis years and so don't know what its like to have someone you idolize as a Celtic just up and die.

I'm torn.  On one hand I want him to get another chance to play if he truly is 100% healthy with no real worries of a set back.  It'd be a great story.  On the other hand, I just don't know if it's really worth the risk for him OR any team.  I get that he loves basketball and I respect him for it.  But he doesn't need to do it anymore.  Unless he was really stupid with his $$ he can retire and live a good life and spend as much time with his family as possible.  If and when he chooses to, come back as an announcer/analyst.

Call me no empathy all you want but i feel it's ultimate disrespect to one's will for others to try to decide(against) their life for them

I'm not so sure it is a lack of empathy.  It seems to be more about Bosh knowing the risks and Bosh not caring.  Its Bosh's life, he knows the risk, and he is willing to take it.  It would be sad if he died of course, but it is a known risk.  This isn't just some random freak unknown thing that came out of nowhere like it was with Lewis.

My thoughts were confirmed by the crowd reaction to the Jalen Brown fall in the T-pups game. 20,000 people, many well buzzed, and... silence.

Chris Bosh is free to play all he wants in his driveway. If he drops dead there, so be it. I won't be in his yard watching.  And I don't want to watch, wondering if a physical play will result in severe injury, or wondering if he was afraid whenever he doesn't go for the block at the rim.

As cool as it would be for Kyrie and Bosh to team up to take down You-know-who...

I agree. I don't hear people saying "he'll probably die, but oh well it could be worth it". Different people assess risk differently. It's better to not misdiagnose volatile risk assessment as a lack of empathy for many reasons.

Many of us watch NFL football on a weekly basis. Player aren't dying, but they are getting severely hurt - 281 concussions this past season. History tells us many of these athletes will develop early onset dementia and later be found to have CTE.

Maybe it's a bit of hypocrisy on our part where we know some players will suffer long term brain damage and yet we still watch. On the other hand, in Chris Bosh's case. we are afraid of the possibility of instant harm. Like you mention nobody will see Bosh if he dies in his driveway--the same with NFL football players. We'll never witness the long term effects of some of these brutal hits. If football players developed dementia immediately after a hit, surely most of us wouldn't watch the game even if it were sanctioned.

Wow, what a heartless thing to say. To say that so matter-of-factly is scary.

Thier life, their pride, thier dreams, if they die they die, i certainly won't try to stop them nor sympathize them when they die.
You can't be serious. He just said that he certainly wouldn't sympathize with Bosh if he signed with the Celtics and died. Honestly, how messed up do you have to be to say that?

And stop comparing Bosh to Kyrie playing without his mask and some random Chinese video of jumping off buildings. It is ignorant to think that a potentially fatal illness is the same as a minor facial fracture or parkour.

Idolize come on now. Neither of those players were at that level to be idolized. Lewis wouldn't listen to C's doctors. Bias took drugs that caused his death. Bosh has taken a lot of time and has a ton of medical professionals helping him. If he dies now then it was probably meant to be.

Again showing me you most likely weren't a fan of the Celtics at the time of those deaths.

Not questioning your fanhood. Questioning whether you were old enough to be a fan at the time and appreciate how those deaths effected Celtic fans at the time.

Some of you

EDIT: No name calling people remind me of Ivan Drago from Rocky IV: "If he dies, he dies."

I'm obviously not as heartless as some of you, because my heart sank last night when I saw Jaylen Brown hit the floor. I couldn't even look at any of those replays after the fact. I was more concerned about the rest of his life, and basketball was the furthest thing in my mind, when I saw him laying on the floor.

I remember watching the Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini vs Duk-koo Kim fight in 1982 with my family on live TV. The fight was brutal, and there was concern about Kim after the fight, where he was taken to the hospital. The next day, I found out Kim died from injuries suffered during the fight. My point is, we all want to see greatness, but not at the expense of someone losing their life in the process. Even though I was only 7 at the time, I was able to grasp that concept.
