Not just 2 games. Those are his best games but he’s been improving steadily through the year. He’s up to 37% from 3 for the year - above league average - and he shoots them above the break, off the catch and off the dribble. He’s a plus rebounder all year, a good defender and energy player. If the ballhandling and confidence stick, he’s going to be a very nice player - and why wouldn’t they?

I was down on him at the start of the year but increasingly impressed. In a year he should be a starting caliber guard.

what is his overall FG percentage?

look at his game logs...its the definition of inconsistency along with Smart

December was not a kind month for these two....They built several houses

this said i'm optimistic he can play better/provide consistent production moving forward

40-38-78 shooting splits, but that includes his woeful start to the season.

Over the last 23 games, he has 46-42-74 shooting splits with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in 23 minutes of play.

It always bothered me people are in love with Smart's defense but find Troz3 below avg. So I asked my buddies while we watched what is it Smart is doing that you like and Troz3 doesn't.

All of them agreed it was the way they guard the pick and roll. Smart fights through strong and sticks and bodies up his man. Troz3 lets his guy roll through to the help defender.

That's valid and could see where if you thought every defender is suppose to play the pick and roll the same. However Smart's job is to body up his guy and Troz3 is suppose to push to the help and let everyone rotate.

I think they both do a very good job in their defensive rolls. Troz3 seems to be playing very AB like on the ball handlers something I feel many here underrated with ABs defense.

They may might both be guards but their rolls are completely different on both ends of the floor.

The other thing that bothered me about opinions of Troz3 is he's considered low BBIQ so I'll ask the question for others to answer. What about Terry's game make you consider him having low BBIQ. I have a sneaky feeling I know the answer to this.

added followup: With that said I at times find both of them extremely frustrating to watch.

Exactly. And his true shooting percentage for the full year is up to 520 – very near league average, even if you include his slow start, which means he's above average for a while now.

I wanted to get information on the last 23 games, but I don't know where to go for season splits. What's the best place to get that?

Wasn't there a thread a couple of months ago Asking whether anyone still thought he was a good player?  Man, TR is one volatile dude on the likability charts.

disagree.

gets lost off ball, cant get through screens, and overplays passing lanes.

If he keeps the scoring up, then Im all good with it. 0 problem.

There was one during his awful shooting slump which wondered if there were any Rozier fans left. At the time, Rozier was at 36/33 or 33/30 ish (but it seemed like worse because Rozier started out the season strong) and Smart was a few % points worse.

I have been backing this man for awhile now. Is my thread comparing him to Dennis Smith Junior still crazy?

Rozier is reaping the benefits of Kyrie tutorship you can see it in his dribbling high to low and change of direction but best of all use of backboard and finishes.
There was a time he zig zaged using burst and didn't have any idea where he was going but over time that has changed and hopefully the spaghetti sandwich's are now in the past.
Rozier now has a higher ceiling as he watches Kyries game that suits him better than Isaiah's.
Rozier has that quick twitch second jump that is elite-rebounds elite level and has improved slipping over screens
Now all he needs to do is copy Kyries warm ups.

Oh yeah this guy is getting better. Danny saw something here, and was able to bring him along. One season in D league, last season worked himself into the rotation, and now appears to be showing some nice classic 6th man potential. Danny loves scoring guards off the bench.

Rozier's play and the salary cap might start the trade sharks circling around Marcus Smart though.

If he keeps this up (big if), the trade sharks might be circling around Jaylen Brown - who should certainly fetch us an enormous upgrade at the 'big' position...especially if you include the LAL/Sac pick.

I have been a huge Terry fan since he was drafted and Jaylen has taken over as my favorite player [I think], but what is really the difference between the Terry we have been seeing lately and Jaylen? Once we add Hayward to this team, the sky really is the limit.

As we are seeing with Terry (and I realize I am jumping the gun a bit here), sometimes it really does pay to let your assets mature. Thank you again, Danny!

Height, which matters on offense but more on defense. It’s how we lost AB and the defense got better, among other reasons. Plus his finishing and shooting on 2 point field goals. And an extra year or two of cost control, which is a huge deal. However, I’m loving this from Rozier!

If he never went 1-7, he'd be Kyrie Irving and we'd have to pay him 25 million per.

On balance, he is clearly a good defender. Stays in front of his man when he’s supposed to, ices when he’s supposed to. What you might be seeing is when he lets a man go by to the sideline - that is by design, he’s doing his job. I rarely see his man just get by him and to the hole. And the tone he sets by his energy is infectious and disruptive. He doesn’t get through screens like Marcus , but nobody does. He doesn’t stick to screens like KI.

We could talk eye test all day. What do the stats say?  This was posted upthread, but I’ll repeat it:

Marcus Smart
Steals Per 36: 1.4
Defensive RPM: +0.48 (20th among PG)
Defensive Rating: 103
Defensive Box Plus / Minus: +1.5
Defensive Win Shares Per 48: +2.0

Terry Rozier
Steals Per 36: 1.6
Defensive RPM: +1.14 (6th among PG)
Defensive Rating: 101
Defensive Box Plus / Minus: +1.3
Defensive Win Shares: +1.8
