An empty roster spot and failure to sign or trade for a vet--of course Danny is not to blame for Hayward but the DPE is unused .Danny is a bit to blame -NOT A BIG BIT
-The make up of roster is so young and filled with rookies
Training camp ,short pre season, schedule ,rooster make up,lack of practice-broken nose, facial fractures, bad backs and other injuries-
Defense and fatigue lead to injuries
Believe it or not, I actually agree with you. In fact, I've been thinking about this very thing for a few days now. Obviously the schedule is a big issue, but Ainge hasn't filled the remaining roster spot despite Hayward's injury. In addition, the back-end roster construction is pretty poor. Nader is a scrub who has no upside, so what's the point in trying to develop him when it's sacrificing a roster spot? Semi isn't good enough to be getting minutes on a contender and is much better suited, from a talent perspective, to be in the G-League for development. At most, I'm okay with having two G-League type guys to try to develop (Yabu and Semi). However, we have them two, a scrub (Nader), and an open roster spot.
What I would do :
Sign a veteran using the vet minimum - This could be Gerald Green for all I care. He's not that good, but at least he can eat up some minutes.
Waive Nader and sign another veteran using the vet minimum - I'm intrigued by Derrick Williams. He has talent, so I'd be curious to see what Stevens' could get out of him.
DPE - I'll be patient with this and use it as soon as something via trade pops up.
