Can we trade the OP for a bag of chips, perhaps?

That's being disrespectful to the bag of chips.

Surely the bag of chips should fetch back more in a trade.

Hypothetical. If possible would you take some Assets for Hayward and get free of the contract, while increasing the odds of the Lakers pick next year.
I knew it had to be you that proposed this.  your reputation for awful trade ideas went to an all-time low with this one.  there is absolutely no redeeming value for considering this.

Looking for the HELL no option.  As in, hell no it ain't even worth thinking about.

That's not how a GMs mind work's. Ainge just proved with the Thomas Crowder Bradley moves he's not afraid of hurting players or fans feelings.

That's not even a remotely similar scenario.

Thomas was traded for a combination of reasons.

1) He was on an expiring contract at age 28, and keeping him would have meant throwing a max contract at a 29 year old 5'10" PG - with his age and dependence on athleticism, his game would likely have dropped off hard after the age of 31,  maybe 2 years in to that new deal.

2) He was coming off a season ending injury, which would have only increased the risk of his game dropping off sooner due to it potentially impacting his mobility

3) Another team came up out of nowhere offering a star who is better and 3 years younger while locked in for the next 2 years.

The idea of trading Hawyard might make a bit more sense if he was a guy who depending heavily on athleticism (he doesn't), was 29 during this season (he wasn't) and if some other team was offering a superior player who is 25 years old.

Neither of those are true, so this is a completely different scenario.

Can the moderators please find the 1 guy who explicitly voted "yes" on this poll, and then just ban him/her.

Great idea. It makes the Lakers worst and helps us right away. I like it.
After seeing the kids play, I don't think we need Hayward. I was never all that impressed by him anyway.

 ::)

Brown and Tatum are better than Hayward.

Firstly. no.

Secondly, you say this as if we had to choose between Brown+Tatum or Hayward.  We currently have all three.  In what way is Brown + Tatum better then Brown + Tatum + Hayward?  There is no logic to that.

As for the OP...

1) Brook Lopez is not on a max contract, so his cap space next year doesn't not help us much - it's nowhere near enough cap relief for us to be able to bring in a player as good as (or better than) Hayward.

2) Ingram is a bust.  He always looked like a bust, and I've never understood how anybody ever believed he'd be anything but.  Tatum and Brown are superior prospects and Ingram is most likely never going to come within 60% of Hayward as a player.

So...no.

So first we trade IT after the loss of his his sister and now we trade an injured Hayward

Free agents are going to really want to come here too Boston especially now that the organization is showing this kind of loyalty to their players

You're aware that 'we' didn't actually trade Hayward, right? That it's merely a stupid thread in a sports forum?
