Why does he have a need to get a rise out of the media with such nonsense?  Aren't there more useful topics to serve that purpose?  I like Irving, but this thing is a total waste of brain energy.
Because it is nonsense like this that gets publicized everywhere.  No one pays attention to the serious stuff and that was his point.

It's hard to imagine someone born in Australia, who flies in airplanes frequently, could consider that possible for more than a moment.

Living in Australia, it plays with your mind. Walking around upside down the blood runs to your head. Those planes taking off and looking up at the ground, freaky if you aren't used to it. I'm not sure you understand the gravity of this situation.

so this got me thinking .....really hard .......did Kyrie need to wear velcro to keep from falling out of bed ?

"Kyrie still doesn't deny world is flat, gets defensive"

But seriously, between stuff like this and the whole NFL kneeling ordeal, I don't understand why people care so much what these professional athletes say/believe. They're paid to play a game, not commentate on social, religious, or philosophical issues, so who cares what philosophical or political beliefs they have?

I mean, half of them can't even speak properly or tell you the proper time to use the words "was" and "were," so why people are putting so much stock into what these guys say and think is beyond me. They're famous for their brawn, not brain.

TP

And another.

He would have been okay in Sydney. Being from Melbourne he would have used gaffa tape.

Again, that link doesn't reveal what you claim it reveals. He does not admit to trolling. He does not admit to actually believing the earth is round.
What exactly do you think he meant when he said I know the science?  He was pretty clearly trolling.  Which is exactly what he said again yesterday.

Now if he only shows that level of defensive intensity on the court....

What exactly did he say during Media Day that you think equals a confession to trolling?

Why are some of you guys so obsessed with this is the real question?

From what he has said, he is doing this to get a reaction from people just like some of you guys who need to try to judge someone's intelligence as a public figure as if you are superior.

You mean the media that asked him once how LeBron was as his father figure?  Oh I wonder why he would have a strange relationship with people like that.

How many of you "clearly trolling" people listened to the original podcast? And why, if he's got this master plan to troll the media, does he do it on a relatively small local podcast?

He sounds serious. To date, I haven't heard him say "Of course the world is round". He's an amateur conspiracy theorist. And you know what? That's his right. He's a young guy. He's finding his own personal belief system.

I don't understand why so many of the "who cares" people are also arguing that of course he doesn't  Believe the earth is flat. If you truly don't care, then why do you seem opposed to him having and ups gear viewpoint?

Kyrie isn't a scientist. He isn't a politician. He plays basketball. He doesn't need to understand the physics of his shot, so long as he puts the ball in the hoop.

I understand why some fans don't want their PG talking like an Alex Jones fan, but screw it, it adds a little color.

"It was all an exploitation tactic. It literally spun the world — your guy’s world — it spun it into a frenzy and proved exactly what I thought it would do in terms of how all this works."

I couldn't find the original link I posted awhile back where he admitted he was trolling.  I found it.  Here is the thread.  http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=93047.msg2374420#msg2374420

And here is the link, with video http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2017/02/kyrie_irving_admits_science_su.html#incart_river_index

"It would be scientifically impossible, which I'm totally aware of that," Irving said after the East's All-Star practice on Saturday.

"I just feel like the fact that it's even a conversation is hilarious," he said. "That that could actually be news. It's hilarious."

So if he is aware that something is scientifically impossible, yet says it anyway, he was trolling.

"It would be scientifically impossible" does not mean he doesn't believe it. It's like saying angels would be scientifically impossible but still believing in angels. As far as it being an "exploitation tactic", that's not what it was on the podcast, he's just backtracking.

He also keeps asking "that's what you got out of the broadcast?", at least implying all of the other stuff is sincere. That other stuff was pretty wild in its own right.

I wish he'd own it,  rather than getting defensive. I'm sure that he is worried about sponsors or his brand, but the dude isn't hurting anybody with his philosophical ramblings.
