The trade gives Thomas a chance for the title..
But the problem is... I do not see the Cavs paying him the money he wants.. . And obviously his stats will fall a lot with LeBron love Jr even rose there...the small guy is the real loser in this trade... accepting a 30m offer from the nets or magic is not something he surely wanted.. but we are heading that way

At least Danny have due diligence to send him on a contender like what he did to Perk, KG, Paul and Rondo and not in a lottery team.

He should still get a big payday for his last contract and grab a few nuggets but not the brinks truck.

Belichick type move.  Dont give the big payday for what the player has done for you, sell high and stay one step ahead.  Only downside for IT was he didnt save that season for one more year.

Did IT talk himself into this trade. All the talk about Brinks Truck must have got Danny concerned if Danny did not want to pay him. 'Pay me' demands led to the trading away of Shaq by the Lakers.

Considering chemistry and morale actually, y'know, exist, saying that one should ignore all emotional attachments is foolish.

that is part of it. DA was NOT gonna be left holding the bag of a HUGE contract for IT and then he stays hurt and never performs again like he did last year. DA was not risking that. he got a better younger bigger Kyrie.

I just hate that we had to spend the BKN18. Could that be the real prize in this trade?

our chemistry will be fine. that is a foolish argument. how many times has chemistry changed over the years. hey we can have good chemistry with jerebko and amir and KO also. should be bring them back? LOL

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
IT was AWESOME for this franchise the last couple of years. What he did on the court, and more importantly, the 4th quarter, was nothing less than jaw-dropping. Thank you IT for your energy, your recruiting efforts, and for giving life back to the Boston Celtics.

But, I do not feel bad for him. For this year, at least, he will have a better chance at a title than he did in Boston. Evidently, Danny was never going to give him the 5-yr max, and I have my doubts about Cleveland giving it to him, so the best he was ever going to do was 4-yrs on the open market.

For his sake, I hope he does play well enough (and play enough in general) to get his huge payday - he deserves it; however, I also hope we are able to solidify our position at the top of the East.

After watching what IT did to recruit players here, see what he played through at the end of last season and observing that he apparently loved the city of Boston and vice versa (especially the kids) this truly sucks for him.  He was the face of this franchise.

Basketball wise- he got dealt for probably the one player you probably would deal him for - so it makes sense.  But it sucks on an emotional level I'm sure.

While I'll always be a Celtics fan # 1, I will always root for IT regardless of which team he plays for.  He's one of my all time favorite players.

What?

We just traded away the guy that our two biggest FA acquisitions came to play with. Obviously that will change our chemistry. I don't know how you could argue otherwise.
