Thanks. While Jackson fills higher position need than Yabu, I see Yabu as a cut above Semi, and hope Ainge is esger to get him going. If IT is 100% healthy, will make it easier to cut or trade Jackson.

I'm not so sure about that. Jackson's a one-position player and would solidly be the fourth point guard on the depth chart, in a rotation where the offense would also be run through Hayward and Horford for portions of the game as well. Given that Kadeem Allen would presumably be stashed in Maine as a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency option that could be called up for the odd week or two during the year when Boston's sitting multiple point guards, and Yabu as an additional perimeter-oriented big, given that right now that list is basically just Horford and Morris (and maybe Semi), probably serves a greater need.

He is a one-position player, but it's also a) a position that will be on the court near 100% of the time, b) a position who's starter may miss some time with a pre-existing injury, and c) a position in which the two players getting the most minutes are both free agents next year (we only project to have at most four free agents next year, so that two come from a single position is noteworthy.)

Kadeem Allen is not a PG.  He's a defensive wing.

EDIT:  That said, Bulpett just said Jackson is being waived, so that's that.

Given that, in the event Boston had to play their fourth-string point guard, either of Allen or Jackson's role on offense would be "get the ball over halfcourt and hand it to either Gordon or Al", Allen's ability to possibly be a positive on defense (or at least not as much of a negative) still probably makes the two a push, but Allen can be stashed on a two-way while Jackson couldn't have been.

Losing Jackson is not a big deal. If they were in a position where he had to play big minutes, then they were not going anywhere.
