Imagine it's to do with that otherwiseNot quite sure it can be. I think they officially have to wait for Mickey to clear waivers before the cap room is available, and that occurs Saturday. But maybe the NBA will be nice because everyone knows Hayward is a Celtic?Do players need to clear waivers when their non-guaranteed years aren't picked up? I was under the impression that they become UFAs immediately and they clear the books immediately, tooThey certainly don't become free agents immediately -- he can be claimed by any team (since his salary is at the minimum). It's possible that he officially clears the books once waivers are requested since it's the offseason and his deal is non-guaranteed. If it were the regular season, he wouldn't, and if he were on a non-guaranteed deal during the season, the team would still have to pay him for the two days he's on waivers.Yes, but if you're waiving a guaranteed contract, you don't technically know how much you'll be on the hook for, since other team are allowed to bid on how much of the obligation they'd like to pick up, no?

Teams pick up either all or nothing. (So you don't know, because a team could pick up a contract or not, but it's one of two numbers.)

Did I imagine this as well?...
What the heck?Issues with Hayward deal?

The Celtics pulled Haywards offer and signed Paul Pierce to a max contract. They als signed Antoine Walker out of retirement to rekindle the Jim Obrien era , which was ahead of its time

My guy says Paul Pierce will be signed and retired to the rafters.
Celtics traded for Carmelo Anthony. The wait for Haywards introduction was due to the finalization of the Carmelo trade and Ainge wants to introduct Hayward, Carmelo together
