really good signing by Miami...KO will be missed.   Not a perfect player but he played hard.  Unique skillset for his height. ... imo he was one of the pioneers of the modern day stretch 4/5

Whiteside
KO
Winslow
Waiters
Dragic

will make the playoffs

thought he'd get more.  good deal for Miami.  helps keep them ahead of the Nets (and Lakers for overall record).  it'll be interesting to see if Spoelstra can get him to play consistently well which would be painful for us to see happen

  • GOT IT!!!
Not not expect this. I'm sure Heat fans expected more. Guarding 4s? Oh man..
Where do people get this???  K.O. is a very solid perimeter defender.  That is an absolute steal for Miami.

He'll get eaten up trying to guard 4s. Can't wait for the C's to spread that frontcourt out and destroy.

Did you watch any games? Dude was excellent guarding PF's and our best lineup included Kelly Olynyk at the 4.
Hates gon hate.

If he's not knocking down shots he doesn't bring enough to the floor. Sorry I've never been a fan. I was laughing more so about his fluky Game 7 than anything.

The animosity toward Kelly on here is pretty weird. Sure, he was inconsistent, but he was really positive overall, and he played a MAJOR role in bringing us to the ECF.

I agree.
It's an excellent signing by the Heat. And if that's all it would have taken for him to be back in green ($12-13M), it strikes me as a no brainer.
Celtics fan for life.

He wasn't a pioneer in the least. That credit goes to Dirk.

exactly... If Crabbe and Turner got a 4 year 75 million dollar deal, this is a steal

Whiteside and Kelly seem like a good match. Kelly can play outside and Whiteside blocks shots and rebounds...

It's a fair deal I've been saying for a month I would have paid him 5 years, $50m. Over $12m a year isn't bad but a touch of an over pay IMO.

I disagree....Dirk was a 4 and played the 3 quite a bit

Talking about a center that can stretch the floor,  pass the ball, handle the ball a little. Guard 3-4 positions

That Whiteside+Olynyk frontcourt should be fun to watch. Whiteside is strong in pretty much every area that Kelly struggles in (rim protection, rebounding, and covering more traditional bigs) so this is actually a really good spot for him

Good luck Kelly, maybe you can win the Heat a game 7 or two (in the regular season/first round, of course)
I'm bitter.

Never mind Sam Perkins. Or Cliff Robinson.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Really sucks to see him leave for such little money. Danny will be kicking himself we could keep him for that kind of $$.
I was WAY off, I thought he'd get offers of 18-22 million a year x 4 years from the Nets, Hornets etc...
Starting two way PF with range. Great signing for Riley.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I agree 100% the fit with Whiteside is really good.  KO might really do well there.

exactly ...could turn out to be a nightmare for teams to handle.  i can imagine lots of KO to Whiteside passes, allys as well

Good for KO to picking the heat.... If he signs with Utah, he has no shot to go far into the playoffs (now with Hayward gone) and same with the Pacers

Miami at least is trying

I can see Winslow starting but if they also sign Johnson , he could play the 3 as well
