His lengthy floating in the lane finger rolls remind me alot of George Gervin. He is just so silky smooth in every offensive move he makes.
Good comp!  I was thinking James Worthy.

You know, for some reason whenever I think of James Worthy I never stop and think of offensive world beater. I often forget just how talented he was on offense. Showtime was so entertaining, even if it was the evil lakers  8).

I wonder if Worthy makes hall of fame without Magic, though.  He was really good player, but very dependent on Magic's PG play. Not a guy who created his own shot that much.
Fair point.  Tatum seems like a shot creator.  My comp is Worthy is mainly due to the one-step finger roll.

To the poster who is annoyed about HOFers comps I give you:  A better version of Brandon Ingram.   ;D

I'm not sure how I should feel about the fact that in the draft where we won the lottery, we were able to trade down and still get a guy who might end up head and shoulders about the peeps we picked up at #3 and #6 recently...

Increibly polished

Not since Pierce came into the league. Dirk was pretty polished also

You rarely see these type of young players drafted these days.

And he has yet to develop his body.

He does have to become better at the defensive end, but at least doesnt look lost. Is not backing down around the post.  3 pt range/shooting needs work. Again not broken.  Lastly needs to build a habit to catch and shoot/pass the ball without the need to take a dribble or two first all the time

Overall im very impressed by Tatum. Probably the most skilled basketball player Danny has drafted

Yea Danny has been drafting better since he brought in Brad

Brad asked him to get KO, maybe Danny would otherwise taken GF??

This is true. CBS wanted KO.

KO put on a show vs his Butler team. Frustrated cbs.

Brad Stevens was still the coach at Butler University the day KO was drafted.

CBS was pretty much hired ...you dont think Danny wanted to get his opinion as to who he preferred at the draft?

Don't let the facts get in the way of triboy's opinion.

Are you still upset Fultz was not drafted?? Let it go

Best comparisons are McGrady Pierce and Durant.
actually, his offense reminds me a bit of a combo between Gervin and Bernard King.  It's still early but he could be the answer to our awful scoring droughts if he comes close to that level

Who?

How about some modern player comparisons ;D

should go back and watch of those guys if you can -- the days when there were real NBA games.  can't stand today's NBA so I wouldn't sully Tatum's potential with latter-day player comparison's.

Fultz, Ball & Jackson were the perfect decoys. Eye candy and we got the best player in the draft after gaining an extra pick next year we could use in a trade and we only jumped down 2 slots where we knew our guy was gonna still be there. If that dont make Ainge a master at drafting and trading i dont know what he will have to prove anymore. The mans a genius...

he seems to be more of a shooter than they were.  they were more drivers than shooters.  King and Gervin were more of a mix although Tatum's finger roll made me think Gervin immediately

So Tatum is already better than Brown RIGHT NOW right?  I mean, I'm not overreacting to summer league but it's fairly obvious to me.  Very polished scorer and we can project what he will become.

Jaylen, on the other hand, is very raw still.  His floor is much lower than many will want to admit, and he has a long way to go before we know what he will become.

Bruh...I was thinking the same thing.

Iceman was one of my non-Celtic faves.

TP

I said the exact same thing in another thread the other day. He looks like what Ingram was supposed to be.

And on a forum where people have had to talk themselves into KO/Dirk comparisons over the years due to lack of true star talent, give us our day please. Tatum has a very good chance to be great.
