Not going to overreact.

Tatum 1. Fultz 0.

Tatum is CLUTCH. Fultz is a CHOKER.

Zizic boxes out well. He doesn't always get the rebound but he boxes so others can. He doesn't get bullied in the paint. I thought he was good in the 1st half and ran out of gas in the second half. He just came from playing back to back seasons over seas and the altitude might have been a factor. He's catch and finish going to the rack showed an impressive set of hands on the young fella!

  • "He fiddles...and diddles..."
.....

Jaylen got his, though not nearly as impressed with his game as many on the game thread.  His quickness and athleticism have improved.  Handle still a little shaky but just way too out of control way to often.  Those saying he need start this year need to slow their roll.  He'll be the same as last year until he can be effective without being out of control.

...
Nader looks solid again.  Should make the team and can fill in when needed.

...
Yeah Jaylen was a bit out of control, but that's ok.  He needed to come out strong and establish himself as the best player on the floor.  He did that clearly.  SL is generally an out-of-control situation as some guys are playing for their basketball lives.  The pace was frenetic at times.  I'm not worried about Jaylen at all.  He will clean all this up during this sophomore season and by 3rd year will be a stud.

I had really hoped for more from Nader.  He was solid, but still has some areas to work on like taking care of the ball.  He's got size, shooting, can use his left hand when needed, pretty good defender.  I just thought he would be a little better by now.

Jaylen looked like a stud compared to players his own age. Just dominant.

Tatum impressed. Advanced offensive game with a great basketball body ready to be filled out with man muscle.

Nader wasn't impressive. Looked completely lost for half the game. Very poor defense though there wasn't a lot of defense played.

Jackson os not an NBA player, would rather give his slot to Allen.

Zizic looks slow, plodding, with poor footwork, and no lift. Also, a black hole. Didn't look like he has good upside at all.

Ojeleye had glimpses of being a player but was completely lost on the defensive end. Probably playing in Portland all year.

Agreed - his assist-to-turnover ratio, alone, showed to be advanced far beyond his years ::). Oh well, at least he actually rebounded :-\. Still can't dribble, though, lol.

Jaylen blocked Fultz's game winning shot and Tatum tipped out the rebound.  So Fultz didn't really choke.  He made a really nice base line move and put a a reverse layup that would have gone in if Brown didn't come out of no where to seal the win.

Brown followed up Tatum's clutch O with some clutch D.   :D

I think both Fultz and Tatum looked really good.   I think both are going to be stars.  I know the temptation is to compare Fultz to Tatum strait up because of the trade, but we have to wait to see who we get with the LAL pick.  Right now it looks like we may have got the better end of the deal because the LAL pick should be one of Porter/Doncic/Ayton/Bamba.

I agree.  Seven turnovers and a couple of his shots blocked isn't a great game at all.  Just like we've always known, Jaylen shows potential.  But he has a ways to go to become a good basketball player.

Actually, no, it wasn't, but thank you for attempting to put words in my mouth ::) while also insulting my posting style or whatever the official term is.  You stay classy, nickagenta ::).

Just finished watching the game..

7 was a stud.. Yes He had 7 Turnovers but 3 were O-fouls ... basically him just being Ultra Aggressive..  His handle Though not Quite there yet was still a 100 times better than last years..  Also in our Offensive he wont be handling the ball Like that in year 2 with the big club.
Also his shooting was simply outstanding - Which translates with the big club..  He is primed to have more of an impact for us...  (The season btw is still some months away - This is just a summer progress report..)

11 was nervous especially at the Start.. But I Was so excited that the game was close late.. Even more excited when we were down 10.... This to me is when you see what a guy is made of.. Tatum Delivered, especially in the 4th qtr...  I loved them putting the ball in his hands in the ISO situations to see what he had..  He killed them twice.. Icewater on the last shot..  The guy is just a winner and plays with a great passion..

And  yes yess these were against folks who wont see the court but remember he is still a Kid, this was his first Action and the guys he was playing against were better than the college kids he played against last year.  These were Men fighting for Food and rent. He was easily the 2nd best player on the court.

7/11 are going to push each other.. They are going to be fun to watch.. You can see the bond they are building..  We are in for a treat for years to come.

As for the rest.

Jackson is scrappy and plays with great heart but he Cant make the cut..

Nader, I dont know.. Dleague for life.

Z - I did like.. Heavy Screen setter.. plodding but he runs the court pretty good.  He boxes out and plays tough.  He has a place on our team..  He looked worn out at the end.. Heck everyone on both teams did.. but In the league you have to play through that..

And Last... I was a huge Fultz guy but I am 100% okay with us Taking Tatum.. I do like Tatum better for our team..  But with that Said.. Sheesh.. Fultz was everything.. His offense was silk, The guy is so crafty, very slick.. The shot block was huge..  His defense is very lackluster and I dont think Phi will push him to be better on that end but I can see a Kyrie Irving career for him..  He would have been great in Boston with our Bulldogs pushing him... But it wasn't to be..

-Tatum will be amazing for us.  7/11 is Catchy as heck :) IF we and Porter next year watch out.
