It's like this..

Hayward wants to win
His wife wants the Miami lifestyle

He's not going to win in Miami, and the nightlife in Utah is a joke (just ask Matt Barnes)
So the logical compromise is Boston. Hayward gets his best chance to win and while Boston is not Miami his wife gets to live in a "See and be seen" kind of city.

It's Boston.

Are there any reports that his wife wants to "see and be seen", or are you just making assumptions?
Just curious, do we know his wife even attended the Miami meeting?  I ask because of that photo on twitter of him, Brad and some guy GH met on the plane.  Usually you're not chatting up strangers when traveling with the spouse though everyone's different.  But it appeared to me that he was flying solo.  And we know that GH's wife was part of the Boston meeting.

do you have a source that says Robyn likes to "see and be seen"? you are suggesting that for the chance to rent a baby sitter for their two kids and go clubbing, the haywards make a career decision?

honestly, from what people write, the haywards seem to be homebodies not nightclubbers.

I get a little uncomfortable making assumptions about a player's wife, but yeah. She's a stay at home mom who seems very religious. That doesn't scream "jet setter" to me, but really we have no idea.

I am going with Miami as my final answer. Think he is not as loyal to Utah as everyone thinks.

Going to Miami makes them a 6 seed at best in the East..esp if they lose Waiters and James Johnson.

I will be really disappointed if Boston misses. It will look poorly on Ainge...even though I think his overall goal is to wait out the Cavs/Warriors and keep drafting lottery picks..which is a good idea

I am sadly thinking it will be Miami as well. So much to recommend playing there aside from the actual team. They are pretty terrible but money plus South Beach and the Miami lifestyle talks. I've been disappointed too many times in FA's turning down Boston to get my hopes up now..

The thing that makes me laugh is when I hear Miami fans say, with Hayward, they have a better shot at beating Cleveland.

Boston doesn't either, but come on. Miami didn't even make the playoffs last year, and could lose Waiters even if they sign GH. Even in the Weak East, they are a 5 seed at best.

I will keep this very simple.

NO WAY HE SNUBS STEVENS...NO WAY!!

He would've told him a long time ago and not even visited. When Stevens recruited him to Butler, he overachiever it because I guarantee he never saw 2 Title games coming at Butler.

I don't think it would be deemed a snub to give Brad and the Celtics a fair shot at stealing him away from Utah even if he stays.  What Gordon wanted then may be different than he wants now.  That being said, we give him the best shot at winning, and brads presence only strengthens that. I think he joins us.

Surprised at all the Heat premonitions... They seem a distraction third. What's with all the "wife wants Miami"? When has she said this? What does she do anyway?

there were photos of her and family on the beach making pro beach statements. cannot recall if it was in florida on a vacation or not.

Sorry I just think he has too much respect to visit and then go to Miami and Riley. Ainge remembers the Allen theft. It would be a snub to visit and go elsewhere. Don't you think he would've told him early on and Ainge makes other moves.

It's just my opinion.

Pro beach statements? lol

I'm sure she loves the beach.  Who doesn't?  I'm sure she also loves shopping (which Boston has great shopping) and going to nice restaurants (Boston has these)

Also as a mother, she probably wants her kids to get a good education (is there a better area in the country than the North East?

On top of that, Boston is easily the best chance for GH to compete deep into the playoffs and grow into a potential powerhouse 3-5 years from now (GH will still be a good player in 3-5 years)

I know Miami has its selling points but let's stop acting like Boston is a crap hole to live in for someone making ~30m a year.

posted this in the other thread but appropriate for all GH discussion today for good feeling quota:

"It comes down to where I can compete for a title," [Hayward] told ESPN.com's Zach Lowe in December. "Where I live—that doesn't affect me. The limelight doesn't matter to me. I just want to make a run at it."
- Gordon Hayward
Hadn't heard this.  TP for digging it out. If this is still true, he's coming to Boston.

If he says something like that and then chooses Miami or Utah as currently built (even if they add one more small/mid level FA left), his word means squat and he sounds like any other player in this league.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Yes, I'm curious about this as well, especially as it pertains to AB,  Jae, and our lack of depth at the 4, 5.
