Woj just said on ESPN that the Pacers wanted Crowder/Smart/multiple 1srs but we weren't willing to commit til we signed Hayward. Sounds like they panicked and jumped the gun early for some reason.

So, no LAL pick and we still said no?

Unreal.

Man... This makes me even more angry.

They really couldn't wait out? This stupid deal they did with OKC would be available in two week or so. They could still trade him to LA.

Good God, I want to hit Kevin Pritchard...

Again, Indy isn't executing the  trade with OKC until July 7th. So they were willing to wait if the offer was there.

What Indy didn't want to wait for is for us to miss out on Hayward and decide we didn't want to deal for George after all.

I get that. We have no right to hold other franchises hostage while hm get our ducks in a row.

I get that, but they easily could have not made it official if that's the case. Agree upon the deal on the contingent that Boston doesn't execute. Heck, they may have gotten more from OKC if they said that just to force them do the trade right then and there.

Its inescapable dumb. If they think OKC would hold them hostage with Victor Oladipo and Dimantas Sabonis, they're dumber than I thought.

That doesn't fit the "In Danny We Trust" narrative, though.

Yeah, that doesn't make me feel better at all. They just wanted us to commit to the deal and we wouldn't? I'm at a loss.

Doesn't going into your meeting with Gordon on Sunday with a deal for George in place significantly improve your chances?

This doesn't say anything about which 1st rounders are.

I don't think we said no. I think we said to wait until the Hayward situation is addressed.

So pacers thought the oladipo, sabonis option wouldn't have been there in say mid july??? it doesn't make sense.... if they landed a giant offer for George, then I could see the urgency... but what was it about this deal that it needed to be done immediately??? Pritchard made an emotional decision to ship George out to western conference instead of being patient for the best deal... Man I would love to hear Larry bird's thoughts on this trade

Pacers really wanted us to sign Paul George first and then mess up with our cap space, preventing us from signing Gordon Hayward conveniently. Ainge did not bite on that.

The Pacers screwed themselves over that they couldn't wait 3-4 more days. Their franchise deserves to get rot to the ground. I won't forget about that David West fiasco either.

Again, this is false. They wanted us to commit to the deal. They're executing the deal with OKC on July 7th, the day after free agents can officially sign.

They wanted us to commit to the deal and not back out if Hayward fell through. Why should they have waited with no guarantee they get rewarded for their patience?

This is Ainge's fault. He was trying to get everyone to follow his timeline because of his stupid obession with hayward. That guy basically screwed us this offseason. We didn't even get to talk to Blake Griffin because of it.

We also missed out on Butler because of him. What a disaster that our offseason hinges on Gordon Freaking Hayward.

I'd rather trade the veterans for young assets at this point and tank next year.

Because the reward is a better deal?

This abomination of a deal they made with OKC would have still been available even if we backed out.

Unless another deal was getting in place to land Oladipo and Sabonis...And Pacers didn't want to whiff on that abomination of a deal lol.

Regardless July 7 or not, PG13 already said his farewell message to Indiana and his greetings to his new team. It's over.

Why didn’t we just tell the Pacers we will do the deal as long as Hayward signs with us? That gives us much more leverage in getting Hayward and it gives Indiana the best deal they could get. And worst case scenario is we still don’t get Hayward and back out of the deal, Indiana just turns around and trades him to OKC for the trash package they just got. There’s no reason why OKC wouldn’t do that deal in a couple days after Hayward makes his decision. Just incredibly stupid to me for both Indiana and Boston.

Yeah we don't know which picks were discussed. But it really sounds like we didn't want to roll the dice on keeping George without Hayward already in the fold.

I don't think we said no. I think we said to wait until the Hayward situation is addressed.

They asked for a handshake and a commitment. We said no.

Even without Hayward that would have been a ridiculous steal.
