A player who gets better every year .You heard from around the league how good at defense he The reason i use "priceless" is the rarity of the mix of defense and offense. Now he has added rebounding.Defense on the perimeter is so critical to winning now with spreading the floor and all the threes. He is a perfect teammate
He is still young and next year will be taking it to hoop ,finishing better and probably average over 20+ points.
After just watching a video of Avery's defensive highlites ,then marcus for both passing then defense
Sometimes untill you see a body of work versus a  highlite play it can get overlooked or just avery doing what he does wearing down a guard.
Maybe the reason we do match up against the warriors is our perimeter defense-
If we had a rim protector/rebounder bradley, marcus and avery would all benefit which helps isaiah.
Imagine our defense with nerlens noel, the amount of energy the offensive quards would expend then have to face an eraser-the advantage that this would have in taking away moves and paths to basket---
I can't believe what this team has done with Sully,Kelly,,Zeller and Amir-

I genuinely like AB and I hope he makes alot of money somewhere else. He's made improvement every year to certain aspects of his game. He's a great defender and a good locker room guy but I CANT wait to see him go. I have this disdain for players who don't understand the game well. AB is one of the stupidest basketball players I've ever witnessed..Bad fouls, bad turnovers, bad jump shot selection. I hate to sound so negative on a guy I like but it's just something that bothers me when guys can do individual things within the game really well but they don't play the game well enough..

Avery Bradley also misses a lot of games due to injury.

Terrific player, but unfortunately he is NOT priceless. His price tag is likely to approach 30 million dollars a year and he's just not that good.

Terrific player and great guy but I'm pretty confident his price tag is just going to be too high.

That's not even factoring in that he probably needs to go in order to bring in superior players like George and Hayward.

Oh, torched us? Thanks

He's a great defender and a decent shooter... but LOL at priceless

If we can't even slow down the opposing star guards, how valuable is he? 'Not as valuable as he's gonna get paid

What I meant was 2 things.
1. His favorite shot is a pull up 2 with his foot on the 3 pt line.
2. His inability to sense what's happening at the rim and adjust. He's improved at the rim but he still doesn't have the iq to realize a shot blocker is bearing down on him and adjust his shot/use the rim to his advantage

Love Avery Bradley. Wherever he ends up I hope he gets a standing ovation when he returns just for the work he did to become the player he did for the Celtics. Could have very easily ended up out of the league if he didn't work so hard to improve.

Good role player, excellent teammate.

With that said, may not be worth ~$20m if that's what the market turns out to be in a year. Great on-ball defender but not a lot of defensive versatility, mostly because he's short for a shooting guard. Great shooter from distance, but not great ballhandling and creating.

Assuming you can add a stud offensive player and shooter like a Gordon Hayward, I would much rather keep Smart than Bradley. And this is coming from someone who likes Bradley a lot.

He is a super role player, lead our team in rebounds... hits the 3 at a huge clip, plays best D on team.

Too short and not a playmaker.  Can't pay him like a star because he's just a very very good role player.

The money needs to be spent on players like IT and Al Horford, the guys that run the offense and make it so Bradley gets a wide open 3.

Agree with the OP. So underrated by people but appreciated by players. You can see so many NBA colleagues tweeting after he was snubbed from all-defensive teams.

In offense, every year has been an improvement. And he's just entering his prime.

he's like every player on this team - "a decent player" and that's it.

he's never going to play enough games to play at an all star level. and honestly i'd be surprised if ever plays enough games to be considered for all defense ever again.

so in the grand scheme of things the more he plays for us at this point the less we'll get in return. and what we would've gotten in return a yr. or 2 ago wasn't much to begin with.

same thing with crowder.

There's pretty much no denying he was our second best player this past season.

A few things I noted in this thread:

1. He's the best defender on the team.
   - while that is true, that's severely under rating him. He's one of the best defenders in the entire NBA, no doubt about that.

2. He's too short to defend.
   - even though he's not a tall SG, he plays so tight and gets his hands right in their sight line and bothers more shots than players much taller than him.

3. Need to spend money on stud scorers.
   - Avery was a 17ppg scorer on a pretty efficient clip (esp from deep). He can score AND all-world defense.

4. He's likely to approach $25-30M a season.
   - that's for max players. He's a very good player, and IMO a borderline all-star. But he will get somewhere in the $17-20M salary. Even if he does get showered with $25+M per offers, don't you think that means many GM's think he's worth it?

All in all, I would rather keep him over Smart if both are going to get paid after the upcoming season. I like his shooting and defense more than Smart's play making. If you put Rozier and Tatum together with the second unit, they should score enough, especially with one starter in there (assuming we land two more stars).

Avery Bradley also misses a lot of games due to injury.

This is true, and he doesn't get to the line enough.

But outside of that, he is chronically underrated by all Celtics fans especially posters on celticsblog.  He had half of the league up in arms when he didn't make All Defense.  Those players do not grow on trees.

I really do not want to trade him, and I think a backcourt of IT-Bradley-Hayward could be a deadly trio.

Wall shot just under 40% from the floor and under 29% 3 pts. He just took a ton of shots.

Kyrie did play out of his mind. I wouldn't say it was Avery's fault. Cleveland did a great job of forcing switches, and our bigs got exploited. Love was drilling 3's too, so it made it even harder.

If we are looking at the playoffs, and wondering who is worth the money, well... Avery was our best player in the playoffs.
