According to people not authorized to speak publicly, George, a Palmdale native, is still telling friends that he intends to be a Laker in 2018. Because of that, he knows the Lakers have little incentive to trade for him now.

I wouldn't give up anything for him time to move on

depends on what it costs. Griffin is going to decrease dramatically from the griffin we know as he ages.

If we lose out on Hayward maybe we go youthmovement baby.

I have no idea what to think anymore. Yeah it'd be exciting to have both George and Hayward but I'd be fine with just Hayward. Let's not get greedy, especially since we don't even know if management is willing to pay all these guys in the long run.

With the addition of Hayward and a healthy Thomas, they should be able to give this current Cavs team (with LeBron another year older) a challenge, though the Cavs would probably still be the favorites.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
LA times doing their best to interfere with the reality that he will be traded somewhere other than LA.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

What a dumb headline. In the 2nd paragraph:

Quote
Although George’s feelings could change, especially if he is traded to a team he likes, the Lakers aren’t willing to part with too much to trade for him.

Talk about covering your bases.

This is why I'm not giving up the lakers pick without a guarantee of an extension.

I would still trade Crowder/Bradley/Memphis pick for a rental though

I unfortunately expect this to be the route that the Celtics have to go to.  I think it's Hayward or bust.  What else is out there?  If Hayward doesn't resign then KO will be back.  IT or AB may get extended to drop the value of their contracts to include the raise for the current year in the deal.  I think Boston makes a lot of sense for Hayward but it's not my decision.  I think the George pursuit is based off of what they would want and what would Danny be ok with in regards to cost.  If Hayward signs then the C's can't afford AB, IT and Smart and one has to go.  I don't care if George is on the team.  I'd rather give the minutes to the young guys and have a big 3 of Hayward, IT and Al.

I wouldn't trade a bag of balls for a "rental".

No, I'm not saying he has to sign an extension before we deal for him...but I am saying if his heart and mind and wallet are made up to the point that he is already wearing purple and gold in his dreams, that there is no way I want to hear his name called out in the TD Garden for our team!

If he is willing to come to Boston with an open mind, I believe he will find the fan base open to him and through the year, with the hopeful success we would have, then maybe the grass will truly be greener for him to stay in Boston long term.

His talent is evident...but I don't want anybody to think they can play for the Celtics only as a stepping stone to something "better".  If that's what he wants...I'd rather roll the dice on Griffin.

Feeling more each day Boston misses on all targets and essentially brings back the same team as last year. Just cannot stomach the dead weight like young, Zeller, amir, green being on this team again

I agree but if we miss out on Hayward I think they will still sign someone like Jam Green.  The team will not be the same.

None of the guys you can't stomach will be on the team again (except maybe Amir on the room exception that pays $4.1 million).

We'll have new deadweight.

I do not think we will see Young or Zeller on this team again. Green would be a cheap signing.
