Looks like Indy is already searching for trades, but not contacting Lakers for now.

If it's a decent price, we should do it. That kills two birds with one stone: 1) you get an MVP-level wing to try and convince to resign here long-term, and 2) you assure yourself of a good chance at that Lakers pick next year.

He may prefer to play for the Lakers over Indy, but it's HIGHLY unlikely that he turns down more money in Boston to go to a losing situation in the West that has no chance of competing anytime soon.

JP, I feel the need to remind you of All-Star weekend. Remember the Demarcus Cousins trade?

I just don't want you to feel that disappointment again, buddy. I don't think Danny & Co. are even considering going after Paul George.

Didn't the celtics and pacers discussed a potential Paul George trade bear the trade deadline?

I'm truthfully not so worried about PG13 to LAL.

Does anyone really expect this Lakers team + George to legitimately contend vs. Warriors, or Spurs, or even Rockets?

Now if they add Lebron, that's a different story, but when they add him he will be age 34 and if he shows some decline, it doesn't matter. (Lebron will stay this season, go to an LA team after next season).

Yeah, I still don't buy all of these PG rumors. Sure, I believe he wants to play there, and it's certainly understandable that he'd want to play there over Indy, since neither are winning right now.

But it's really, really difficult for me to see him leaving a contending team (like Boston) for LA next year. Unless they trade Deng and Mozgov, which would cost several of their young assets to unload, they'll have to stretch both of them to just make room for George. And hell, that LA team with just George isn't even a playoff team for several years.

Honestly, LA's best bet would be to trade for him now. If someone like Boston or Atlanta takes a chance and trades for him now, both of which would be really good fits for him that would be contenders, he's not leaving them for freaking LA.

We should really hope Atlanta doesn't offer the four first round picks again for George. That would be a really, really tough Hawks squad - Schroeder, Hardaway, George, Millsap, and Howard would be an insane two-way team that would give the Cavs all they can handle.

I'd think they're better than Boston, too, even if we add a Hayward in free agency. Hell, they'd completely dominate us down low with our gaping hole at the 4 spot.

And I'm all for George going home to play for the Lakers; I completely get the motivation to play in front of family and friends and to be closer to them.

But don't pretend that "winning" is your primary motivation, then. Those two motivations are incompatible at this point, because it's pretty clear that even adding George to that Lakers team doesn't even get them to the playoffs, let alone contending.

Apparently Indy has contacted Cleveland already, too.

I think Love would be a great fit at the 4 for us, but not at the expense of helping George go to Cleveland.

Yeah, this is the part about the "PG-13 Saga" I don't get. He says he wants to play for a winner but also wants to play for the Lakers.

Sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Lakers ain't winning squat anytime soon.

That's why I think the LA talk is largely hyperbole.

Do people really believe he'd leave a contending Boston or Cleveland team for LA? Lol Love sure didn't, and remember he was a "lock" to go there, too.

I'm on record as stating that I don't think there is any chance PG leaves Boston if we trade for him.

Same here. I think you could say the same thing about numerous other potential suitors, like Cleveland and Atlanta.

Larry screwed Indy over big-time by not trading him at the deadline when he was so obviously leaving then in free agency anyways.

Maybe he's thinking he can have it all. Pacers now have to trade him to get something and no ones going to give up too much to get him. Cleveland swoops in and offers something, only gets him for this year. They have a better shot at beating GS. George walks after the season and gets his money from LA.

Pacers asking teams for ideas on potential PG trades, per sources, as they have for a while. Ideally: 2 firsts+starter. Teams obv skittish.

So the asking price isn't all that high. 2019 Clippers and Jae Crowder seems like it would probably be the best they're going to get. Now, I'm generally not for trading for these second-tier stars, but that's a pretty reasonable price to pay.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I'd do 2 non Brooklyn or LA first and Bradley. I'd push crowder to the bench and make brown and Jackson my two guards. I'd then bank on is keeping PG in Boston.

2 picks and a starter for a rental who will leave at end of season?

To me it seems to be a price no one but us can afford.

That's the asking price, not what they're going to get/willing to accept. George is gone, and everyone knows it. A middling first and mediocre starter is getting him. One year of Paul George with the possibility of wooing him is worth that meager haul.
