Something to keep in mind now: Adam Himmelsbach is now saying the Kings pick is NOT unprotected.

Of course its not. This was a ****ty deal for Ainge. Got picks that are heavily protected and then ub the end might not get anything out of either one.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's more reverse protection, but we'll see.

Totally agree. Maybe this is where the Philly 2021 talk came from, i.e., if Sac pick is worse than 5, Cs get Philly 21.

Mike
I hope so.  Even though by then Philly will be a playoff team.

I wouldn't give up a ton for him, especially now, but I still think he would agree to play on a contender in Boston over a bad LA squad.

Unless George explicitly says he's only going to LA, which would mean he's got a Heat 2010 scenario planned, I don't think he'd leave a ready-made contender for a lottery-bound Lakers squad.

I just think he wants to be in LA over Indy, since neither of them are close to contending anyways. But I don't think that means he'll ONLY play for the Lakers.

This is where I'm at. If we should request to meet with him and he tells Danny he's going to L.A. no matter what happens during the season, then you obviously pass. But if there's a chance coming here and winning would change his mind, you make the move and hope it all works out.

What team will outbid us if we offered all our tradeable non-premium 1sts (our own, LAC, MEM) for a rental*? None, as far as I can tell. Nobody bad's gonna give up a premium 1st, and nobody good who could use the rental has a premium 1st.

*with the outside chance he stays

Paul's going to be dealt for sure. No way the keep him and wait till the deadline - everyone knows he wants out, including the fans. That's awkward.

The timing of this is odd. It's before the draft so in theory, it gives them a chance to trade him for a pick. But what team is moving a pick for him knowing it's unlikely he'd stay?

Pretty much kills any chance for Indy to do anything in FA, who's going there knowing Paul's gone?

He's really put that team over a barrel.

Nate Jones sees this Indy/George situation a lot like the KG situation, yet we still traded for KG and convinced him to stay here long term. I think it's even stronger for us this time, though, because you're comparing the 2nd worst team in the league, who is also in the West with GS, to the number one seed in the much weaker East.

PG has long said he wants to be contending; that's not happening anytime soon in LA.

They'll be legitimately contending before us.  Once Lebron heads to LaLa land it's on for them

We have a minimum of 3 of these same threads. Can we combine them?

Since when was it a given Lebron was going to the Lakers?

These LA rumors come out every single year, yet people still believe them every single time, even if there's no basis for them.

It's the only way he can win another title.  Build his 3rd super team.  With PG in place, he'll roll in, probably with some of his banana boat brothers

Seems our only competition for George is Cavs who would have to offer Love. Probably would.

I think it's possible that there's a deal already in place to trade George, and Indy has leaked this as a way of bracing their fans for it as well as win the PR battle. Not that it isn't the truth that he told them he wants out, necessarily.
