Here's a pic of Porzingis next to the (listed) 6'9" David Lee. I'm telling you, the man is huge. He's honestly probably taller than 7'3"

I heard that Phil Jackson loves Crowder.

And Crowder seemed to have a big problem with the Celtics fans cheering Hayward.

So imo this would fix two birds in one stone.

#3 pick + Crowder for Porzingis.  We also clear some more cap room for max contract at the same time.

Then in free agency we sign Gordon Hayward.

New lineup:
IT4
AB
Hayward
Porzingis
Horford

That's a hell of a nice core to compete with Cleveland.
AND we still get to keep our Nets 18 and Lakers 18 pick.

But we do have to give up a player that Jackson can use now and presumably the Knicks draft Josh Jackson.

I heard the knicks asked the suns for  either booker and the 4th or bender, chriss and the 4th.

this idea that crowder has any significant value is pure homerism.   this thing is going to take smart, brown and two firsts.   it's going to hurt.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I just said this in another thread (and I'm sure others have as well), but if Danny wants Porzingis, he is ours. The big prize for Phil is Jackson - Danny can just take him and then the Knicks would have to go with a secondary player. The Suns may be offering up slightly better secondary assets, but that is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to Jackson vs no Jackson.

Yeah, they've already said no to Booker + 4, so there's no way they're besting us in other ways.

Finally, realism.

If Knicks just wanted #3 and Crowder, we would be setting up Kristaps' introductory press conference right now.

Another underrated aspect of a Porzingis trade - we're going to need an answer to Embiid/Simmons in Philly if they stay healthy. Porzingis would be a good potential answer to that pairing, let alone an Ayton/Bamba/Doncic added to him.

If confident Hayward would sign here, I'd make that deal.  Crowder's contract is so valuable at this stage in the rebuild, and while I really like Brown, he'd likely be slotted behind Gordy for years.  He may prove me wrong, but for now, I don't see him as a 2.

Context. Phil is widely-known to be really high on Crowder for whatever reason, and he could very well have as much value to them as Bender, who did nothing his rookie year except get injured, or Chriss, who has potential but didn't really stand out that much in his rookie year either.

But I agree that it will be more than just Crowder and the 3. I'd imagine that the Lakers pick might have to be involved, too, or if nothing else both the Memphis and Clippers picks and someone like Rozier.

Yeah, they've already said no to Booker + 4, so there's no way they're besting us in other ways.

This could potentially be a Cousins-like situation where Phil Jackson is so obsessed with Josh Jackson that the asking price for teams with no shot at JJ is much higher. I just hope the Celtics can be the irrational winners this time.
