Tatum is better than Porter Jr.

Porter Jr. Is overrated imo.
I don't know about better than Tatum, but I disagree completely about being overrated. He can shoot it from a mile away, and can shoot over almost anyone. He also has that little move where he throws his hip into the defender to create a tiny bit of space, then hits the fallway jumper ala Bird.

He scored like 15 in the 4th to bring his team from behind against Marvin Bagley's team. Bagley made him look bad on D a few times, but Porter made some key stops, including a couple late on Bagley. And Bagley is going to make pretty much anyone who guards him look bad.

IMO, Porter is a better prospect than either Ayton or Bamba. I can't really say about Doncic, they may all be behind him. He certainly is intriguing. Porter's also a Brad Stevens type of forward, whereas Ayton, Bamba, and Bagley will likely be bigs.

The whole order changes if Bagley reclassifies, because he'll be #1 whichever year he comes out, but last I heard, he said he wasn't going to do that.

No

Porter jr. Has no handles.  His defense is inconsistent

He cant create his own shot

He can shoot. And throw down alleys. And is 6'10. Good motor

I still like Ayton and Bamba better. Better defensive potential
we'll see how porter does in college .. Maybe his handle cleans up. Seems just kind of a nitpick. Every prospect ever has weaknesses

That team wouldn't be very good with such heavy reliance on young guys, and by the time they're ready to contribute Horford (and maybe IT) will be kaput. Hayward would be able to stick with the young guys because he's still quite young.

In the long term that team will be very good, and develop quite the rivalry with Philly.

Yeah, can't really see that team "winning now". I could see Doncic and Ayton off the bench until they're ready to start playing well..

I would disagree that he has no handles. He isnt a major ball handler but he can create enough to get his shot in most cases. He can really really shoot it though. I have him ahead of Bamba for sure. If Ayton is turned on then I would probably take Ayton over him but lets not overlook this guys ability to score 20 with ease and thats important.

His handle is fine, it just isn't elite. He also has no trouble getting his own shot, and he played against some ridiculous competition last year.

Some people will nitpick because they're fixated on getting a Big, whether or not the Big is as good a prospect as Porter (and most everyone I've read thinks that Porter is the best prospect for '18, sans Doncic).  That's not to say I'd be disappointed with Ayton. He looks like the most talented big in the draft since Embiid, and one of the top 7 footers of the last decade. Others like Bamba, but I have my doubts about him.

IMO, Porter looks better at this point than any of the '17 draft class did at this point. We'll have a year of him at Missouri to see whether or not that holds true.

If indeed we wind up with a top 3 pick, or praise God, 2 top 4 picks, it will be interesting to see what Ainge does re: Doncic. And whether or not scouts feel he can play PG in the NBA. NBADraft.net has us with the 1st and 3rd picks, taking Porter and Ayton. We'd be stacked beyond belief for years to come.

You guys know on the off chance we actually do get two Top 5 picks that Danny's trading at least one of them, right?

why would he do that? He's already getting bad offers for the assets. What makes you think that'll suddenly end?

The Celtics land two top five picks next year and end up with Ayton the Dwight Howard with a jumper and Michael Porter Jr the dream small Ball PF/SF

That's game over right there. Championship team once we put them all in the oven together and cook them low and slow. Once we turn down the heat and bring to a simmer, If Horford can still eat that's gonna be a winning meal.

 DeAndre ayton
 Al Horford
 Michael Porter Jr
 Gordon Hayward
 Isaiah Thomas

Josh Jackson, Jaylen Brown, Smart, Rozier, Zizic, Yabu

This would be a super team.

No guarantee we will have an opportunity to draft any of them.

Dang, I thought it was guaranteed. I guess Danny really is a moron.

Yep, it'll be fun!

In my whacky brain, I'm hoping we get picks 1&2, Philly hops up into the lottery to #3, and trades us the SAC pick with the same protections and #3 for #1, so we wind up with 2 of Porter, Doncic, and Ayton, AND get to have another year of draft fun.

I can't wait for next years lottery and draft. BK 18 and LAL/SAC should be untouchable except AD/KAT/Giannis type. Adding potentially 2 of the top 5 next year to our young core would be so incredibly amazing. Any 2 of Doncic, Bagley (?), Ayton, Porter or Bamba.

Someone mentioned in another thread that we could full beast mode and go for both bamba and ayton. That would be real interesting, especially if picking 3 and 4 and doncic/porter are gone. Those 2 are elite rebounders, they'd get every single one lol

the best part is we have a big 3 so most if not all these picks will be coming off the bench for the most part to destroy other teams and to develop while winning

If bagley commits, we need to grab him and maybe porter too. One of porter/Bagley/Tatum will become the next Durant. There's a chance that all 3 do. Imagine the insanity if that happens

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Porter Jr. seems to be a tweener not quick enough to defend quicker 3s Not strong enough for 4s. Probably lacks the skill to be a small forward offensively.

I love coming to CB. Someone starts a thread about how awesome it would be if the C's were able to draft the two top prospects next summer to add to an already good team and the first 6 words in the first response: "That team wouldn't be very good".

Love it.

how does he lack the skills to be a small forward offensively? He has a big bag of tricks, elite shooter with above average  size and athleticism.
