Still think it's PG13.

I also think Danny knows for sure that one of Hayward or Griffin is signing here. No other reason to make such a trade in that case.

Would love for it to be AD, but I just don't see why he'd be available right now.

hayward is a done deal.

TAKE IT TO THE BANK!

IF it isn't AD then we are realistically building for a run of about 3 years of Making it to the ECF and maybe once getting by only to get bodied by the Warriors..

Weee.

(and This is all predicated on Cle  not improving their team after getting smashed by the Warriors)

Danny what are you thinking dude.

not really dude. geez get a grip. if we keep brooklyn's pick next year that stud plus brown and gosh knows who else are our future. we can compete now and build for later. hayward and PG are young enough to be here when those kids get going. he is not selling out for a 3 year window now. If that was the case we would be selling out for lebron or anthony davis, steph curry etc and trading jaylen brown as well. we are not gonna keep all these picks that far out.

Zeller + Bradley + rozier + #3 pick this year for butler maybe? Would leave us with just over 30 mil to offer Hayward max. Next year's starters IT, butler, Hayward, Crowder, horford with smart Brown and whoever else coming off the bench. Not the worst but does it get us past Cleveland or potentially the warriors? Not sure..
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

So Ainge's "plan" is to field an entire team of small forwards? Paul George - even in the unlikely event he stays more than one year - isn't getting us past CLE, and if Lebron bolts for LA next year, we aren't getting past GSW with this roster. Laughable to think this will work.

Yes, that seems to be the plan.

A score first PG, who excels in the PnR coupled with a stretch 5 who is the best passing big man in the game, along with 3 rangy, versatile wings.  That's pretty much the ideal roster composition in today's NBA.

A true 5-out offense.

So when CLE absolutely batters us again on the boards next year at least we'll be slightly more competitive and only lose in 6 games.

Progress.

Is this going to help us beat the Warriors by the time IT's contract expires? How about Horford's? How about whoever it is we trade for?

No?

Useless then. Rather pick Jayson Tatum. At least he is apparently Paul Pierce light...

Remember KG wasn't available either.

It's a giveaway because Ainge wouldn' have done this deal this early. Most big deals happen while on the clock to see what other teams come calling. He wanted to do it now to start working on the other deal.

I believe the other team already told Ainge what was needed to get a deal done. So now he can go and get it done.
BullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline... the other team would tell them "hey, we don't want the first pick, we want the 3rd and possibly the 5th next year!"

Lol at that theory

I hope you're right bro because right now we had the # pick in our possession.

Regarding those other studs we are hoping for, we have no idea what could happen next year..  Teams are going to be Tanking like crazy (as usual)  The suns, The Lakers,  The nets, Orlando, the Knicks and even Charlotte might get in that race..  This is such a huge gamble considering we had Brown and Fultz and the Bk 18 right there...
But whats done is done..

Watch it just be PG13 or Butler...

this seems likely to backfire

I dont even want PG13 or Butler. This was the move i feared the most. And i thought all along Ainge was a smart man n he goes and lets Philly get the best of him. Ainge got knocked the fck out in this trade. He can go get Butler and Hayward and PG13 and win #18 that will never EVER sit well with me. What a dummy...

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I can see the LAL/Sac pick being in play for trade, but I definitely think the Cs want Jackson this year. He literally checks every box Danny/Brad could ever ask for.

And please stop with the Winslow/S Johnson/even MKG comparisons. Just go watch some film of the guy - incredible athlete, versatile, and super-engaged. Also a very good offensive player with room to grow.

I really hope you are right about Danny doing this as part one of another deal, and if there is another deal we have to get George now because if the Lakers get him, say goodbye to that lottery pick.

Also- what's to keep Magic from taking Jackson?

Think about how badly the Lakers (our main rival), could pork us-

They hold all the leverage on who we pick now. Instead of them getting whoever we didn't want, we are now picking from their scraps. I'm starting to think Danny is trading whoever we draft this year. Does he value this draft at all? Doesn't seem that way

If they somehow get Paul George or any other star (LeBron is a real possibility), we won't get their pick period

If they absolutely suck, there's a chance they could screw us out of the pick, AND land Philly ANOTHER **** #1 overall pick!!!!

I reeeeeealy hope Danny knows something here, because he's basically saying that Fultz is Joe Barry Carroll and we don't even care who we get between Ball/Jackson/Tatum.

Maybe it's like the story at the deadline where he wants multiple stars coming in. Who know, but I really dislike the uncertainty of it, and I'm not really okay with Magic being our GM next year if we're using these picks

Ainge knows the Lakers aren't trying to win. They won't be as bad as the Nets but the Lakers want to be bad to continue to get better picks...but the Celtics have their pick next year. That can't be pleasing to PG13. haha

Fultz plays no defense and Ainge and Stevens knew it.

When Ainge didn't take any players back, it tells you that the pick is being dealt. All of this is to clear cap room to get 2 players.

For all these people who are in love with Fultz, be honest did you see him play much this season? I think a lot of this is because he was the consensus #1 but was he really? I saw Tatum and Jackson and thought they were better. There's no really big difference in 1-4 in this draft.
