If this rumor has at least 50% truth behind it... Why in gods name is Ainge so infatuated with a player that canceled their workout, has attitude problems, and has one of the worse shooting forms for a top 7 pick?

In before triboy tries to justify giving up a potential star in Fultz over a player who may or may not bust.... Please tell me why..

I just got back late last night, and saw the news, and I almost fainted...

I believe the calculus is --

(1) Trade an elite prospect for a very good prospect

(2) Add multiple top 10 picks to the trove of trade assets

(3) Clear additional cap space for the summer to get closer to max space.

To me, this should be a no brainer -- use your top pick on the consensus top guy.

But I can't argue that Ainge hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.

I just thought the whole point of those Brooklyn picks was that one of them might turn into the top pick in a strong draft with a consensus #1.

I don't really think he's focused on Jackson. The timing of all of this makes me think that he truly does want to pair Hayward or Griffin up with one of Butler or George, or some other unknown available star.

Otherwise, why would this not wait until the draft to make sure that Jackson is actually available at 3?

Yeah, it just doesn't add up to me. I also don't think that Ainge would move down just for more value. He knows that top-level talent wins in this league, and that's what Fultz represents over those like Jackson and Tatum. It doesn't matter if you get extra value from moving down if it ultimately puts you even further away from truly competing with top-level talent.

Granted, we haven't heard an absolute thing about Danny wanting someone like Ball, and given how stuff in the past has went, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him take someone like Ball at 3 and blow everyone's minds lol

That calculus is even harder than the calculus I went through earlier this year...  :o

When it comes to identifying talent in the draft, I fail to see where Ainge has earned anything at all. He's been drafting for almost 15 years and hasn't picked a single all-star.

Except for that time Rondo made the all star team... 4 times.

He's had 3 top 10 picks.

One he made a brilliant move and traded it for Ray Allen.

One he took Marcus, but I'm pretty sure 0 people from the '14 draft have become all stars and his final top 10 pick he took Brown and obviously no rookies have made the all star game.

Does it count if you use a draft pick to get an all star like Rondo or IT?
