Getting Griffin and Hayward or one of them + George is a practical impossibility.

Ainge is going to sign IT to a max contract, or at least something close to it. There's no way the Celts are carrying 4 max contracts, even if they could get it in the cap, the luxury tax would be crippling.

And trading one of our BRK picks for a one year rental of George is about the dumbest thing I've read on this board.

It's possible, just maybe ill-advised.

You can clear enough space to sign Hayward by renouncing all FAs and moving Rozier. Done and done.

Then you can trade AB+Crowder (plus whatever pick compensation you want to argue about being fair), and net George. So far as I can tell that works in both ESPN and RealGM trade checkers.

I also doubt that Thomas gets a max contract. He might get max money for a year or two, but no one is paying him that for 4 or 5 years. The team that gives IT $130M+ is going to regret it.

We agree about the Brooklyn pick though :)

if CP3 leaves for Spurs

i think it s certain Blake goes somewhere.   Boston or Miami  would be logical choices

OKC could try to get him, and Griffin could be real interested joining his hometown team.

Would require trading Kanter and another bench piece as well though but it's possible.

Is Miami really a logical choice though?

It is certainly a possible choice because of the weather and taxes and all, but Blake would find the same spacing issues with Whiteside that he did with Jordan - and unlike Jordan, Whiteside isn't going to provide much in the way of consistent defensive help.

Hayward was phenomenal against LA; Blake was in street clothes.

Hayward's versatility could let him play the 2, or even bring the ball up the court with IT, so I don't see him necessarily taking away Jaylen's minutes. (Neither player has to play the 3 really).

The way the league has been trending, you go small.

We have have too many guards as it is, so why not trade some for front court help?

I do love Griffin, and think he'd be great here, but I think Hayward can make the guys around him better in comparison to Blake, who is a great passer, but not necessarily someone that makes the players around him better.

And I have to say, it's amazing that were even debating these two great players. A few years ago we wouldn't even be in the conversation about free agents of their caliber. Plus Fultz and next year's Brooklyn pick? Great time to be a C's fan!! :)

Hayward slightly over Griffin, and thrilled to have either if it's only one of them.

I'd rather have Hayward. Especially if we can get a reasonable veteran to help Horford. I'm high on Zizic, but he's probably at least a year away from being a solid contributor, if then.

But if we got Blake, I'd be thrilled. If Fultz is ready to go out of the box, we'd be a real tough out for Cleveland, if everyone was healthy come May and June.

Like many people have said here...of course he is considering the Celtics.  They are a good team with the ability to offer a maximum contract to any free agent.  I mean, why wouldn't you consider the Celtics?

I doubt he leaves LAC and further severely doubt Danny would offer him the max.  If there is one thing I feel I know about Danny Ainge is that he immediately discounts future player value if they have had a significant lower leg injury (Tony Allen, Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, etc..)

You could get creative and rid yourself of the deadweight and sign both players
