Lakers don't own their pick next year. They want George for definite, don't want to risk Free agency next year when a team better than them might usurp them.

LA receives George and one of Ellis/Young/Jefferson

Indiana receives Ingram, Clarkson, Nance Jr, #2 pick

The trade would be consummated after the moratorium. If people don't like that then you can add Brewer in to make salaries work on draft night.

It's a nice haul for Indiana. Clarkson would replace Teague and they would get Ingram to replace George. Nance is a nice player alongside Turner. They also clear out one of their bad contracts. They would have the #2 and #14 pick to add to their youth as well.

Do LA give up too much? Maybe but they pair George with Russell and they have some 'solid' vets around them. They also retain Randle.

Add LeBron James via free agency and the Lakers will be a threat to Golden State.

it would be a robbery
the lakers are known to get trades in their favor, so this is a no-no
right now, their best hope is that ingram becomes a player, russell looks like a poor mans lillard, randle like a poor mans blake griffin, and they are targeted to go, not ingram.

If the Lakers were to make a trade, it wouldn't be for George.  I think they are quite confident that they'll get him next offseason.    Magic also said Ingram was the only one he wouldn't consider trading.  They could try to trade for another star like Butler.  However if they do anything, it would probably be a salary dump trade for Mozgov and/or Deng but they don't have much to give up.  I think next offseason is when Magic is looking to make magic.

Robbery for who? The Lakers give up 2 top 3 picks which is almost unheard of for a player with a year remaining. Plus a scoring guard on a good contract and a good big man on a cheap contract

I think CLE will deal Love for George.  LA, I think lacks ammo to pull this off.

They have been great in free agency but I have never seen them as a trade winner.  People like playing in Hollywood with the Cali weather around stars.

When were they great in free agency?  They've been shooting blanks for a while.  No Melo, no Aldridge, no Jordan.  Then they overreact and stupidly give big contracts to Deng and Mozgov.

Agree.

If they move to acquire George, then Love is their best bet. LeBron, Kyrie, Love, and Tristan is a very solid core. So if the Cavs are chasing for an All Star, they move either Love and or Tristan.

I think LA has the ammo, but that they're not going to be inclined to deal Ingram, Russell or #2. At that point they would run out of that ammo.

How quickly these things come come back full circle.  :-\

George doesn't want to go to the Fakers and blow his best years on a crap team.

Lebron doesn't want to go to the Fakers and be on a crap team either, no matter what the Fakers do they can't build a team as good as Cleveland!

This is all that "everyone wants to go to LA" BS we hear every year and there is no truth to it! Players want to go to good teams, players want to go to Cleveland because they can win. Fakers are going to have to build their young core and hope one or two of them become all stars so they can become a destination again. Right now they are not a destination, please stop believing anything else!

It would be awesome if Cleveland were to target George because that would drive up the price the Lakers would have to pay.

i kinda agree , by the time the fakers put anything together ,  Lebron will truely be worn down from his prime.   George would waste his tprime years with that three ring citcus of LA wierdos

Ingram & the #2 is a huge overpay. One or the other. Not both.

The Lakers live above the cap, and you can be sure they will be active in the FA market, as they always have. Whether they wait for George, or trade for him now, is a difficult question only Magic knows the  answer to. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled off a deal for George during the draft for their #2. Depends on how much they value adding another 19yo.

Actually, it's Pacers who know the answer.  Magic is willing to wait for 2018 free agency (he intimated this when he got the job) but would obviously make the move now b/c there's a good chance George would re-sign in LA (unlike other cities).
