I wouldn't do it. If we traded for Butler, this would be to take advantage of his salary until 2019, an "old max". But we are not going to have a chance until that, so... keep the young core.

In 2019, he'll command 30 million per year. If we can afford it (hopefully we can't, after signing Hayward), we can try to get him as a FA.

I'm beginning to think that Paul George may end up on the Cavs.

I would trade for Butler, depending on the price. BRK 18, Bradley, Crowder. Then sign Hayward, Lavoy Allen, and Dwayne Dedmon.

Seems like a lot to give up for George.  For comparison we gave up the 5th pick, West and Wally Z for Ray.  In this deal we are already giving up 2 very good starters. I would put a top 4 protection on that Nets pick at the very least.

After watching these finals?

You'd be nutty to still want to trade the picks/brown for anyone older than 24 or so.

I think this reasoning is pretty short sighted. Basketball is a game of matchups. I said before the ECF that Cleveland is far more difficult for us to compete with than Golden State even though GS is the better team. We're simply better equipped to deal with a smaller, quicker team than we are with Cleveland where we're giving away 5 inches and 30 pounds at most every position. Our strengths, especially defensively, match up better against the guard-heavy Warriors.

I still don't want to trade the pick for anyone outside Anthony Davis. And we'd still be tremendous underdogs against GS even if Cleveland wasn't in our way. But I do think a team of IT, AB, Smart, Paul George/Jimmy Butler, Crowder, Brown, Horford and a mid-tier FA *could* stand a chance against GS. However I think it's long odds that team gets through both Cleveland and GS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bron tries to get PG from Indy for Love and then convince Melo to take a buyout and sign. PG probably wouldn't go to the Lakers if Bron can convince him they would be in the Finals for 2-3 more years.

Bron, Irving, PG and Melo is the kind of talent and scoring you need to compete with the Warriors.

I think the Spurs were one big dirty European ***hole away from beating them to be honest. If they somehow score CP3 the game is completely changed again.

It's the old "if PG were to resign" argument, but if we got that locked in and we're able to pick up Green I'd be ecstatic.

Definitely would be a great offseason.

I persoany think it would give us a fighters chance against the Cavs and Spurs not too confident about the Warriors.  If Spurs land CP3, and they upset he Warriors out west. I think it would be one hell of a finals between San Antonio and Boston (assuming we had what it takes to upset Lebron).
