Well, that was uneventful.  Hope it ends in a sweep, quick and dirty.

How are TV ratings so high with a 2-team (realistically, 1-team) league?  I can't imagine it's true fans of the game that are tuning in to watch the NBA these days.
You are gonna get almost all the big NBA fans no matter what. This is a huge draw for casual fans.

People want to witness greatness. They are getting it. This Warriors team is unbelievable.

Their basketball is a thing of beauty, no doubt.  And I'm glad they're winning handily.  I also don't blame them for how the team was built pre-KD.  But 28.5 other fanbases don't even have a glimmer of hope.  Sad state of affairs.  I guess I'm personally bitter and hopeful that their audience shrinks in order for the next CBA to address this lack of parity.

Yeah, in a league where only five players from a team play at any one time, it was a ridiculous mistake to allow the 2nd best player in the league to join a history making 73-win team. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but you can't even equate this to any other league - maybe like if Alex Ovechkin joined the Penguins(?), but mpg are so vastly different between the NBA and NHL. The cap spike was stupid and not thought out.

Itd be like putting the greatest Quarterback and Coach of all time on the same team in football.

If Curry does not take the supermax

Silver will shoot himself in the foot

Because guys who mainly care about money (like Melo) will eat the super max and their teams will sukk even more(inability to sign FAs etc)...

You have to add the Spurs into that mix, who, really, could have had a different series if Kawhi Leonard was healthy.

Next year will be mighty interesting. It kind of looks like it doesn't have parity now, but depending on what we (Celtics) do in FA, the Spurs, Cleveland, it could easily be a 4 team race to the top. And then if Washington does something good, they could be in the mix. There's a budding superstar combo in New Orleans that would get a training camp together, they could do something. A Lillard - McCollum - Nurkic could be an interesting big 3. Giannis and Jokic might make it more interesting for their respective conferences. Miami has been underrated good in the last half of the season, who knows what they can do.

It doesn't look like it now, but there's a lot of great things to look forward next year, as far as parity is concerned.

It doesn't make sense for him to not take the supermax, though. It won't affect their cap situation regardless of how much he takes.

NFL is set up to allow the weaker teams to get stronger and the strong teams to get weaker. The only thing that keeps any team from making the playoffs at least once every few years is incompetent management.  Pats are on the other side of that.  They have a unique combination of a hall of fame QB, a great coach/gm and ownership that allows Belichick to do his thing.

If the NBA truly wanted to get rid of super teams they would have gotten rid of the max contract.  Simple as that.

But they didn't, because while hardcore fans bemoan them, super teams make the league as a whole a ton of money.  Salary caps aren't meant to really level the playing field, it's just a way of owners controlling how much they spend on player salaries so they can ensure certain amounts of profit.  Revenue sharing isn't about competitive balance either, again, it's about smaller revenue teams ensuring a certain amount of profit.

Dirty secret folks, the collective of NBA owners generally recognize what makes them the most money.  And that is highly recognizable teams with marketable individual super star talent.  It's the easiest sell to casual fans.

It's been this way for a long time now.  We just happen to be at a time when there was a huge cap spike that allowed one team to really take advantage by sheer luck (timing).  It's not going to change either, the CBA isn't up for renegotiation for a while.

I understand why some people hate this fact, but it isn't changing.  At least not any time soon.

The GSW have out scored Cleveland in every quarter, except the 2nd tonight. That's not good for The CAVS.

Lebron..

say

he need mo hepp

And mo days off ;). Sorry, kids, Lebron won't even be attending any of the preseason contests next year and has decided that it would be best for him to only play regular season games at home during 17-18.  Oh yeah, and no back to backs for Bron Bron ::).

Also, autograph sessions will be limited to one per signing event, and fans must hold their own cameras/phones when taking pictures with da king ::).  We don't want him to have to exert himself so much next year ;) ;D.

Seriously, though, he'll probably just get Rudy Gay to sign in Cleveland for the minimum, where he'll experience a remarkable bounce back year after sustaining such a career-threatening injury because that would be just our luck, right?  Ugh.
