“There’s two things that are happening,” Ainge said. “I think the value of [the pick] increases the closer you get to the draft is one, and two is we really need to know the value of the whole draft

Likely to make the trade, I just don't think so.

I'd be surprised if the pick was traded.  Anything less than an multi-year All-star big man coming back in the deal would be a wasted opportunity (assuming Lebron and Durant are off the table as non-big men that would push us to contender status)

Horford has not come here for an advanced rebuild

Horford signing signals win now....

I think pg13 + 2017 18th pick for #1 and Crowder I think is a possibility... Extension or not (wasnt this the same case with Ray Allen for the 5th)....

Then entice Hayward to join (no guarantee at the moment)

Unless its a smokescreen (which could alienate the draft pick) ... Doesnt seem like Danny is very high on this draft (top 5 prospects)

How do you not know this by now?

If Durant was available in this draft... it would be a different story

TB, the value difference between the right to draft Fultz (#1) and Jeff Green (#5) is astronomical. Plus we had Pierce about to turn 30, who was getting impatient. We absolutely had to create a win now team. No such pressure here. Al Horford is not threatening to leave the team. He just signed a 4 year deal.

Well, the team this time was the number 1 seed vs one the worst teams in the NBA.

The team also are in position to add a win now top player through FA.

And would that other deal have happened if the Celtics had won the lotto that year?

We dont know what Danny is thinking to conclude this

Heard a recent podcast of Dunc'd... Analysis of Fultz..special talent but defensively barely got into low stances ... Overall poor effort/lost

Danny and cbs right now dont have patience for this...

How can Fultz help if he cant even get min?  It may take 2-3 years

Its a risk either way...because once he gets it...he could be real good

I really have a hard time imagining a scenario where we trade Fultz and we come out on top. He seems like a can't miss prospect and is absolutely suited to excel in today's style of play.

Ainge MUST listen to offers and even show he's entertaining and listening to them. I don't think he's trading the pick (and I wouldn't), but then a team can go crazy and make a godfather offer.

You never know. A responsible FO must be opened to any possible outcome and sholuldn't say "this is untradeable".

If this was Durant, Davis, Towns...do you still think he would listen to offers?

I dont think Ainge thinks Fultz is a transcendent talent..

Yes, he would still listen to offers.

But just like I think now, he wouldn't make the trade.
