How Upset Would You Be If Ainge DIDN'T Draft Fultz With #1?

If Boston makes the pick at #1 and it's not Fultz, my reaction is that Danny's got a trade coming.  That would be the only plausible explanation.

I can only hope that trade is not a multitude of first rounders for either Butler or PG but Anthony Davis.  Now THAT would really p--- me off to send out more than one lottery pick for either Butler or PG (especially PG who's expiring)

I agree. Butler wasn't great in the playoffs. Now I would do this years #1 for an extended PG13, but not one with one year left. That being said, I have a feeling it's to Philly to get an other potential top 5 pick in the next two years, and it's all going to NO for AD. Or he's moving even further down and getting the Kings 5 and 10, keep on pick(cap friendly bench player) hopefully get Smith jr, get an other pick.

#1 for #3 + LA 2018 + Sac 2019 --> Really don't know. I guess I would be OK with that

I prefer Josh Jackson as a prospect.  If we can get Jackson plus additional picks, of course, I'll be thrilled.

If we can't agree on a deal to move down, I'd be happy with taking Jackson number one.

This idea is ridiculous. He really is an excellent player and prospect. That team was horrifically awful, which happened because both Chriss and Murray (Spurs) declared after their 1 college season.

Ainge may not love Fultz, but if he actually keeps the #1 pick, then he has to choose him. Otherwise, he needs to trade down in the draft (or out) and pick up other significant assets while still getting the guy he wants.

Simply making the pick and not taking Fultz would be an utter disaster as the #1 pick salary scale is already making it tight signing a max fa.

While I definitely want to take Fultz, trading back is pretty open and shut, in this case, if Danny has his eyes on Jackson, Tatum, or Fox (or whoever) as those three are guaranteed to be there at #3. Philly would kill to have Fultz and would add significant compensation - in addition to the #3 pick - to get him.

Again, I want to keep the pick, but I will be steaming if he takes a player at #1 who is not Fultz who he could have had a couple spots later. It just wouldn't make any sense in terms of value.

I am definitely not one to quote myself, but at least Danny is making sense here. If he simply takes Jackson with the #1 pick, then it would be poor value. Picking up the #3, Lakers '18, and Philly '19 is much better than just taking Jackson.

We really can't tell who the better player will be and we can't control who Danny wants, but it could be worse. I definitely think I can talk myself into Jackson after watching his draft express videos. At the very least, he can clearly be a swing/PF.

Not upset at all as I am convinced the extra picks are to trade for a star. Also, I think the players in this draft have become seriously over rated on this board. Its just not as good a draft as most think, IMHO.

Remember, if Ainge gets the picks reported, #3, 2018 Lakers, and 2019 Sacramento, Ainge could trade #3 and Sacramento 2019 and still have 2 shots for top 3 picks in 2018 where the best talent is in tremendously takented bigs, which the Celtics need. This trade could yield Butler, Porter and Ayton. We could be looking back at this trade as another Ainge fleecing.
