I think the issue is that Thomas is worth more to us than he is to anybody else. You lose him and don't replace the scoring and this team sinks fast, whereas the league is flush with point guards and he's on the last year of his deal.

i don't think any team will Max IT ......if the Celtics don't .....then nobody else will.........he takes a chance of getting even less from others f he turns down a Celtic offer . By snubbing a Nice Celtics offer , he could wind up with 1/2 max from who ever decides to take him.

I just don't see maxing him when other taller guys like Butler and George can be invested in.

I see that the overreaction to the first two games is in full flower.

The plan is simple - draft Fultz, sign Hayward and make a lesser deal for a big.

Defensively, IT struggles with most match-ups. However, this is exacerbated without
a shotblocking PF or Center. Not saying Ainge won't entertain offers for IT, but imagine what he could do with another guard who could created his own offense- or a rebounding big who could make outlet passes.

Maybe not 1/2 max, but he could end up on a much worse team.

I also don't think any legitimate team will max out IT. He also won't be eligible to receive any more than a 4-year deal from another team so I hope we will not exceed that either.

It's really going to come down to what IT desires the most - a chance at winning or the most money he can possibly make. If it is the latter, he should be campaigning for a trade this summer so another team can have his Bird Rights. I just don't think Ainge envisioned $30M+/yr for IT when he traded for him. With Fultz now coming in, I will be very surprised if he gets a max contract from the Cs.

OK, would you let him walk then? Cause I'm not paying him max/near max money either. All it takes is one desperate GM to offer him stupid money and we 'll lose him for nothing. If we don't plan to pay him we might as well trade him for the best package we can get.
