This is the only trade I'm interested in. We could add the Memphis pick, our pick next year. Yabu, Zizic. We have options.

If we can get Hayward too fantastic. If not we have the two guard of the future in Fultz, Smart, or Brown.

I'm not trading Fultz for PG that's just me.

Yes, has to be extension.  Agree. Otherwise, 2018 pick too valuable an asset for a one year rental.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The combined salaries of those three next year is about $17.6M, George is at $19.3. While this trade would be acceptable in terms of incoming/outgoing salary, it also means we have to let KO walk and we still would be short of signing Hayward by over $1M (he isn't going to take that big of a paycut). I am assuming this trade takes place sometime this summer.

I don't mind the idea and keeping Fultz, Brown, and Smart is great, but we would need to find another way if we want to get Hayward here. I really would have no interest in the deal without Hayward.

I'm also not in love with the idea of tossing Rozier in the trade as a throw-in or losing Crowder and his killer contract. Avery and the '18 BKN should be enough, but this is what Wyc meant when he discussed matching salaries along with the pick - we end up giving up too much.

Just posted this trade in the PG thread. I think its ideal for both sides. The 2018 draft class is just as loaded as this one, I almost hate to do iy if I'm the Celtics because of how many good young players I could have under control on rookie deals but you gotta part ways eventually to improve.

Is there a way to put protections on BRK 18 pick? Some type of protection where if it's not conveyed, they get BOS 18 and MEM 19 picks?

no.  1000 times no.

a 1 year rental of PG and give up AB, Crowder, Rozier AND the Nets pick next year?  And you're suggesting adding more to that overpayment?  oh good lord this has to be one of the worst trades you've ever proposed and you put some doozies out there.

Honestly, I thought this was a no-brainer.

Take it and run with it. We get the best player in the deal.

I would take crowder out of the deal but otherwise I'm on board.

Come on Slam, it's obviously contingent upon Paul signing an extension.

I don't think we can do a trade for either PG13 or Butler without including Brown.

No way dude.
He wouldn't cost that much even if he said he would sign with us. Couldn't you use Zeller's contract to help match the salaries bc he has a TO?

No -- too high a price.

A top 10 SG.
A top 12 SF.
A young PG with potential to be a top 15 PG.
And a top 5 pick in next year's draft.

Too much. That is an MVP level trade package.

tp.
We took a calculated risk at #3 for the guy with the highest ceiling and most potential in the draft. He was suppose to be a project but has progressed so much, in less than a year, to the point that he may start in game 2 of the ECF and defend Lebron because of his play in game 7 and ecfgm1. Personally, I think there is some hope that he takes the 5-6 months in the off-season to progress and shows up next year on another level than he is right now.

IDK. Jimmy Butler is a fine player and I'd love to have him.....but we may already have him.
